Fern and Nikita and ‘the head injury’…?…

…I obviously felt for a Fern because she was harmed during the making of that dumbest of dumb ‘fun games’…I mean, it was the accident waiting to happen that then happened, wasn’t it…?…and a very added in or added on level of unfortunate-ness also that it involved two housemates that seem to have a bit of an awkward relationship atm also…because now that’s sadly a big part of how Nikita may be remembered for his time in that social media are apparently already buzzing with ‘Nikita tried to kill Fern’…/…type memes etc…he was quite boisterous in his ways but he at least realised that part of his competitive nature and that he didn’t want to continue with the game…as he disliked immensely that he had been any part of harming anyone in a physical way…

…anyway, general thoughts on the game, the injury and just any aspect related…?…

Accidents happen tbf.

At least Nikita realized that it might've gone too far.

Only after he'd gently headbutted the cushion a few times and then saying to himself: 'That doesn't hurt!', as though a fit 26 year old man is going to have the same pain threshold and bone density as a comparatively frail 66 year old woman. Honestly, the whole of his remorse afterward felt so performative and OTT. He's always doing this, finding himself at the center of something and then dragging it out far beyond what's necessary, under the guise of just wanting to broker peace and trying to make amends, etc.

Just to clarify: I don't think he went into the game wanting to hurt her or anything, but like a child, I don't think he wanted to face full responsibility for it. First he seemed to deny to himself the possibility that he might have been too rough with her (him headbutting the cushion and saying it doesn't hurt), and then later putting the blame onto BB for setting up such a silly game in the first place. Though I think he's half-right on that score lol.

…just a little thought that doesn’t change anything and isn’t really relevant but…Fern was wearing a hair clasp at the back of her hair, it was clasped up at the time with one of the larger clasps…I’ve had a back hew bump with one of those in…?…and it does add quite a layer of pain…/…not head injury type concerning stuff…but just the pain aspect…so I’m thinking that gave her a huge OMG, ouch thing as well that Nikita wasn’t figuring in his cushion risk assessment afterwards…

I get being competitive, but he also whacked Marisha across the neck, I didn't feel the requirement to be quite so physical?

arista 21-03-2024 09:32 AM

Yes,
nice old Fern could run.

Ammi 21-03-2024 09:32 AM

…anyway, I do also feel for him…/…did feel for him…it was all very unfortunate and BB is the ‘blame’ here…I’m going to sharpen my Ofcom pen and give them a good rant on health and safety…

it could have been a fun game had they thought about the approach there really was no need to go barrelling in at 100 miles an hour

He probably got defensive to begin with because of how it might look to other people is my guess.

I don't think that Nikita is a malicious individual, and once he has calmed down, he has realized that he might've been a bit rough.

…the little evil in me wanted BB to do a ‘Fern’s Dead’ thing and bring out a deceased/withered fern plant…

Hopefully BB has learned it's lesson without needing to drag in Ofcom.

At least he didn’t treat her differently because of her age, she’d have had something else to pretend to be offended by if he did

Strictly Jake 21-03-2024 10:16 AM

It was a cushion... She definitely played up to the cameras. The next Roxanne pallette...

Yes she totally milked that to make Nikita look bad.

rusticgal 21-03-2024 10:20 AM

Well trying to make imply that she was making something out of nothing by saying the edging wasnt hard was not a good move...but we all heard the noise.
However, he did then go on to redeem himself.

She sure did. She doesn't like him after she found out he has constantly nominated her.

Did you not here the bang?...and as Ammi said she had a clip in her hair which would have made that painful, cushion or no cushion. There is wood under that cushion and if your head swings back at some force you are going to hit the wood.

…when we press something in that way with our hands, what we’re feeling is the cushion because it isn’t a process that we’re doing as an ‘impact’ thing…it’s not done with speed etc of an impact and from a further distance also…like any crash situation…when Fern’s head contacted, it was with speed and with that crash impact which doesn’t feel the cushion, it feels the solid surface beneath that…the fact that there was a cushion covering might literally ‘cushion’ the impact slightly but only slightly, I would say…plus yeah, those hair clasps if you’re wearing one and have a bang against it…?..are pretty fierce and hostile…

I think as well, although it was just a 'silly' game, it was quiet revealing as to who were the competitive ones, the oldest being picked last, the lack of care towards less able and less strong....all in all quite a good task I thought

…and also that there are different layers and thoughts on ‘competitive’ as well in that the two older ones in Fern and Louis could be the last two standing as finalists..while the young’uns are competing for battles…the oldies are winning the war…?…

joeysteele 21-03-2024 11:01 AM

Sorry but I felt she milked it a lot

It was before the eviction, she likely saw a chance for a sympathy vote.

Perhaps BigBrother should have made Fern and Louis leaders of teams but only directing not participating.

Plus Nikita has no issue on age
Sharon Osborne rated him the best in there, the nicest inside and out
Also wanting him to win

Fern has gone very condescending, I now feel I'd be irritated around her myself.

hope so!

smudgie 21-03-2024 11:17 AM

I think he forgot his own strength.
Obviously he works in a very competitive environment so will be his natural instinct to win, unfortunately he was a tad gungho and took no prisoners.
As to Fern milking it, no way, the thump of her head was very audible.
She was very gracious in being concerned that Nikita didn’t blame himself as it was an accident.
Good on Nikita for saying he wouldn’t take part in that task anymore.
