everything after the initial film was a let down

Matrix is a property which has the potential to have an "extended universe", I suppose.

Though it feels vaguely like Disney taking over Star Wars - Lucas might not have (nominally) directed two of the movies, but his fingerprints are all over them, and he was the driving creative force, he basically did everything a director would apart from telling the actors and crew what to do

Matrix meanwhile, weren't those films directed by a pair of siblings?

Tbf the second and third Films were fun I thought.

I haven't seen the fourth yet though.

This better have Keanu Reeves or I won't watch it.

I enjoyed all the sequels. But a Matrix movie without Neo makes no sense to me :nono:

It could be that Keanu Reeves would be too busy filming John Wick 5 tbf.

I mean by the lore it absolutely does make sense because I think Neo is the 7th "The One" (this is revealed at the end of the 2nd movie). They could move on to the "next generation", so to speak.

TBH it's a great intellectual property and (awful as it is to say it...) at this point it can only be improved by removing the influence of the Wachowskis, who absolutely butchered the attempt at a 4th film. Or one of them did, anyway. I think the other wasn't involved at all. Maybe they were the one with the vision...
