Ranking the last five years of your life (from best to worst)

If you care to.

Mine:

2022
2020
2023
2021

2019. Total crap from start to finish. At least 2021 was bittersweet. Last year wasn’t great but it wasn’t that bad. Life trajectories change by the week at times so I’m taking a lot into account with every individual year of my life over the last 5.

"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."

Do you know which "philosopher" said that? Dolly Parton. And people say she's
just a big pair of tits.”

In general they're on an upward trajectory but 2022 was pretty crappy and I have to say, multiple aspects of 2020 were iconic :flutter:.

I promise anyone that thinks that life is giving them a hard time to visit a school for children and young adults who are disabled mentally challenged or both to come out of there still thinking that their own life is that bad.

we can only face what is in front of us and deal with things as best as we can. Life isn't pretty

It still doesn't mean that our own lives can't have crappy moments in it just because other people have it worse.

Even someone like Bill Gates will have crappy years.

Mind you, some people (especially hyper.-extraverts who really can’t cope with any degree of “social isolation”) will say 2020 was the worst because it’s fresh in their heads and ‘Covid this, Covid that’. Such a bad-vibes ting to use the nearest convenient global landmark (9/11, Brexit, ISIS threats, Trump, Covid, 2008 credit-crunch, etc.) as a marker for when life went south. Your life is still your life, not the BBC’s life. Whatever gonna happen to you is gonna happen. What’s going on in the broader world (which is always portrayed in a negative light) has only so much to do wit. you personally. British people always like to whinge and moan about the present moment and rose-tint the times that at the time they were saying were the worst ever, and so on. We rarely stop to appreciate the present moment and what’s right about it. It’s always about what’s wrong.

2021 was only marginally better than 2019 in the sense that it added a layer of resilience and awareness that did me more good in the long-term. I’ve seen more respectable years than either in prison-segregation, and I will never forgive the people who played a hand in making 2021 such a bad year for me. Just awful, the pair of them.

2014-15 were almost worse but they weren’t in the last five years.
