…if they’re guilty of discrimination with this then I hope that nice BBC newsreader Maxine Croxall wins her case…but I don’t really know enough about any of the specifics to have any thoughts, really…so she’s still getting fully paid for being off air, then…?….

Yes, I hope she wins,
not sure if she is fully paid.

[Croxall's legal action comes
after World At One presenter
Sarah Montague also previously confirmed
she had won a £400,000 settlement and
an apology from the BBC over unequal treatment.

In 2021 the BBC disclosed it had spent more
than £1 million on legal fees fighting equal pay
and race discrimination cases brought by staff.

The BBC declined to comment on the matter.]

…I wasn’t sure…this was part of the Independent article that I read earlier ….

‘Since then, the presenter, though still employed by the BBC but without a set role, has taken time out of work to travel while receiving her full pay package.’

..so I wasn’t sure if she’s not been on air but was being fully paid…or just probably while the enquiry is ongoing…

may be if she had been more professional she would still be in favour

I definitely wouldn't be surprised at her ageism claims being true.

The Misogyny claim needs some more evidence though, because like with racism, the term has been overused by society a lot over recent years, so it can be hard to tell which claim is real, and which claim is false.

But like you Ammi, if she's telling the truth then hopefully the BBC gets what's coming to them.

Clare Balding seems to be everywhere and she’s in her 50’s

You've named one.

And I can name a second with Tess Daly being the main host of Strictly Come Dancing, and she's 53 now, I think.

Two examples though from so many UK/BBC productions is really low, and I know that there is more out there that neither of us have probably even seen, but the fact that I am struggling to think of Shows hosted by older women, or lead by older women is not making the claims against the BBC look good, from my perspective anyway.

Mystic Mock 18-04-2024 10:46 PM

And my bad, Tess is 55.

She looks really good for 55.
