Who would make a good chat show host?

Who in your opinion would make a great chat show host?

Inspired by Arista.

I think Ian Hislop, and his first guests should be the three leaders of the Conservative, Labour and Lib Dem parties.

I fear the days of good chat show hosting are all but over.

They near all annoy me watching them, particularly when they interview politicians.
It doesn't need to be so confrontational and sadly it's hard to find real unbiased presenters as to political issues.
All the ones in place are harder line from the right.
Sadly and surprisingly more the female ones.

On general interviews of interviewing like celebrities then Ben Shephard is pretty good

For me a good all rounder on interviewing and who also comes across less as biased is Victoria Derbyshire.

I'm sorry to say I find Hislop smug and often sarcastic in his political interviewing too.
Especially to more left of politics guests.

I honestly however cannot recall when I last enjoyed an interview with either celebrities or politicians with the presenters in place on TV now.

Ben Shephard as I said is good on general interviewing and he's slotted in well on This Morning.
So for general interviewing I'd say him.

For say political interviewing, then I'd watch Victoria Derbyshire and not get myself riled at her style of doing so.

TV has changed and the longer interview style shows (like say Parky) are not unappealing to people with far lower attention spans who prefer snappy tink tok and YOutube stuff

I doubt any channel would commission a chat show these days

Someone who is themselves interesting … with a decent IQ at least

Mathew McConaughey for example

I think they’d need someone with more emotional vivacity.

Still waters run deep.

You don't have free speech anymore. Anyone that doesn’t stick to the New World order script will be shut down.

Long gone are the days of a Peter Ustinov or a Kenneth Williams telling an anecdote.

It's all scripted these days.

James Corden on a Chat Show talking about Eggs.

Shouldn't we as a society be encouraging people to have an attention span though?

And I say that as someone with a rough attention span.

How hard is it, really, to just say TikTok?

…Rob Brydon is excellent, I think…and for a female, Claudia Winkleman…
