Brazil Floods over 80 sadly died

[Massive flooding and landslides
triggered by days of heavy rain in
Brazil's southernmost state have killed
55 people, according to local authorities.
Officials say another 74 people are
missing in Rio Grande do Sul.

Nearly 25,000 residents have
been forced
to leave their homes since the storms
began last Saturday.
At least half a million were without power
and clean water, with further rainfall expected.
Rio Grande do Sul's civil defence said
55 deaths were confirmed as linked to
the floods, while another seven deaths
are being investigated to ascertain
if they are connected.
The extreme weather has been caused
by a rare combination of
hotter than average temperatures,
high humidity and strong winds.]

Absolutely terrible for the victims and their families.

Hopefully there will be an opportunity for rescue teams to swoop in.

I was recently in Rio Grande Do Sul, I do not recognise these pictures it was so beautiful and sunny, I hate that this is what the world sees of Brazil outside of Rio, as though it’s some 3rd world country.
RIP to those who died.
I hear Porto Alegre river banks burst, luckily it is a quite a hilly city so there is definitely a lot of land dry to excavate too.

Good to hear Madonna donated 1.8m euro to help the victims

Obviously it was a bit controversial here that nearly 2m were dancing on a beach whilst people in the south of the country were drowning
