Teacher sacked for encouraging critical thinking during discussion about JK Rowling.
 

Going off the clips in this video, I honestly don't understand what he did wrong?

He encouraged the student to come to his own opinion on the topic, that's exactly what a Teacher is supposed to do on a topic that's morally ambiguous.

The term 'critical thinking' makes me want to cut myself.

He was on with Piers and was retweeted by Elon Musk and hailed as a hero

then they sacked him

Oh i saw that video of him with the student, is that really why he was fired? I find that hard to believe. It was a great discussion

As far as I'm aware, the video is what got him sacked.

I'd like to see the reason they actually told him, surely he'd have a case for unfair dismissal if that's the reason they gave him

I mean you cant sack a teacher for stopping a pupil slander a person with incorrect information or the whole game is a bogey

I thought the same.

But someone in the YouTube comments section didn't fancy his chances if he were to take it to court.

He looks familiar, and I can't quite place him.

Did he do the youtube interview circuit? In my head I can see a thumbnail of him and Jordan Peterson, but I'm not subbed to him so he'd only show up on my homepage if my brother watched it or something similar (we still share the same youtube, despite he now being old enough for his own :joker: )

I'm not saying being on JP or similar would excuse a firing, but it might allow midwits to build a case he's a "dangerous right winger" or something...

I don't really know much about him tbh, away from this particular story.
