Will you eat zee bugs?

I will not.

To be fair, bugs have been a large part of primate diets (and humans are after all just primates) for millions of years. It's more UNusual that we don't eat them now... and if populations keep growing they might become an important source of protein :umm2:.

I shall be sticking with the traditional cows, chickens and fishes for the time being though.

They can bug off.
Be warned though, they are now using cricket flower in some pasta's, biscuits, Nachos and smoothies. If it says Acheta powder/ Protein then its a product containing crickets.

I once saw a moth fly into a bolognese I was making and it INSTANTLY disintegrated entirely. I obviously threw it out and started over because... yuck.

But it did make me think...

I just happened to see that moth fly in and disintegrate. So, how many times has a moth flown into something I've been cooking and been obliterated into the mix, without being noticed?? Are we all eating moths quite frequently, blended into our sauces... :worry:.

Insects aren't Kosher. That's my excuse.

Kate! 07-06-2024 03:39 PM

I wouldn't even for a million pounds. Just couldn't bring myself to do it. Gross.

joeysteele 07-06-2024 03:39 PM

No, never.

Don't fancy them myself, but some of them are supposed to be very tasty.

Barry. 07-06-2024 04:26 PM

If I had to as a last resort sure

Very true, but it's just not cricket for our western palette.:nono:

smudgie 07-06-2024 05:27 PM

If I had to then yes.
As kids we used to clap our hands around flying ants and eat them…alive.

I'm not opposed to eating bugs, but the fact that this option might be necessary for some when the super wealthy are just getting richer and richer, shows there is a serious lack of seriousness and willingness to tackle what is really causing the problems in the world.

You would think the rich Aristotle's had been eating bugs for years by the state of their teeth.

I don't really eat meat* and I don't miss it either. So I'm unlikely to go looking for meat substitute, such as bug burgers

* I don't call myself a vegetarian, but I just happen to choose to eschew it.

That's more China than Asia itself... I think.:worry:

And no I would not go around deliberately eating bugs.
