France: Macron Calls a Snap Election, 30th June- 7th July 2024
|
Get him Marine
|
Blimey
2024 is peak politics |
if you look at it, covid and immigration has pretty much wiped out every government around the world at the first opportunity
|
No choice ...
If you respect democracy, you listen to your people. Hopefully he did ...
But also, shame to see my country, "driving" EU on this dark lane ... I love EU, |
I know little of French politics.
However it could be he's looking forward to the 2027 Presidential elections possibly. Macron is in his last years as President now, these are parliamentary elections. It may well be opposition to him, gets strengthened in these elections. However possibly making the parliament less popular in a few years time He recently appointed Gabriel Attal as Prime Minister. He is I understand quite popular. Also is seen as a successor to Macron as President. So calling this election may be a means to an easier door opened for Attal in 2027. If the parliament becomes more unpopular. If I was French and lived in France I'd have voted for Macron, his Party and Attal in 2027 if he runs then. |
Hi joeysteele,
Macron cannot be President in 2027, as he allready made 2 "mandas" (we call it), let's say "contracts". He's not allowed to do a third one in a row. |
i think macron is calling the election now, before the right get even more popular and take power. He is gambling that the left/middle can still win at this point in time
|
Yes I agree.
In other words : No way that we (in France) let extrem rigth take control History, we'll drive our hearts |

Is it right that there is a view the new PM Gabriel Attal as I mentioned would likely run for President in 2027 however. Thank you for your response. I really appreciate it. |

[Far-right parties have rattled the traditional powers in the European Union with major gains in parliamentary seats, dealing an especially humiliating defeat to French President Emmanuel Macron, who called snap legislative elections. Some ballots in the vote for the European Parliament are still being counted, but the outcome shows the 27-nation bloc’s parliamentary membership has clearly shifted to the right.] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/pa...al-powers.html |
