She says there are not enough charging points

…Sainsbury’s have just completed their first charging hub in Suffolk at my local branch, it’s very smart…(…no pun intended…)…they seem to be a bit of a leader with supermarkets atm…

I won't be buying an electric car because I don't believe in the climax hoax.
Most people don't buy electric cars. They loan them, so they can hand them back when the batteries run down.
I've heard that its as expensive to change the batteries on an electric car, as it is to buy a new electric car and that's why second hand electric cars are very difficult to sell.

Edited because I made so many mistakes!!

If the car hails from a hot climate the batteries can lose 30% charging capacity in just 3 years!

They are expensive to buy. Also to repair and insure.

Sales of them have declined recently.

EU announced today that they are putting higher tariffs on imported Chinese EVs.

Quote:

Brussels will impose tariffs of up to almost 50 per cent on Chinese electric vehicles, brushing aside German government warnings that the move risks starting a costly trade war with Beijing.

The European Commission notified carmakers on Wednesday that it would provisionally apply additional duties of between 17 and 38 per cent on imported Chinese EVs from next month.

The duties will be applied on top of existing 10 per cent tariffs on all Chinese EVs, depending on the extent to which they complied with an EU investigation into electric carmakers that was announced last September.

Major exporters including BYD, the world’s largest electric-vehicle manufacturer, and Geely will be hit with additional individual tariffs of between 17 and 20 per cent.

EVs made in China by Tesla “may receive an individually calculated duty rate”, the commission said.

Companies considered not to have co-operated with the probe, including Shanghai’s state-owned group SAIC, will be subject to the 38 per cent rate. SAIC has dominated the lower end of the European EV market through its MG brand.

The tory government didnt change the timescale for the forced introduction of electric cars for the good of the people. They did it because we don't have the infrastructure to support everyone having an EV. The vehicles themselves are way too expensive to maintain and unsuitable for driving in the way that a significant proportion of the public want to use them. The other thing is that we dont have the public transport infrastructure to support increased usage.

A labour government coming in isn't going to change that by 2030

In China they are having to make mass graveyards for used Evs

china is in real trouble. Their property market has dived bombed because of corruption, they aren't up to date with the latest tech advancements so will be less competitive going forward (compared to India) They have real problems now supporting a lop sided aging population and their population growth is net negative so it's only going to get worse.

The bottom line is that China needs the west more than we now need it, hence why we have been comfortable taxing their EV's. China isn't the power it was 5 or 10 years ago

She would probably be the only person to have one up there.
