Family issues urgent appeal after 19-year-old goes missing in Tenerife…
The family of an Oswaldtwistle teenager has issued a desperate appeal after he went missing after a night out in Tenerife.
Jay Slater, 19, was last spoken to at 8.50am on Monday, June 17. According to a location pin sent to his friend Lucy, his last known location was near Rural de Teno Park. He said he was lost in the middle of the mountains with nothing around. Jay attended a music festival on the island and then decided to stay with some people he met following a night out, not realising how far away they lived. He then attempted to walk home when he became lost in the mountains. His friend Lucy told the Lancashire Telegraph that it is out of character for him to be missing. She said: “I have never been so worried in my life. “Jay rang me at 8.50 [on Monday] saying he was lost in a mountain. He sent me a pinpoint of his location but when his phone died that cut off. “It is out of character for him to wander off on his own. “Police told me they were going to send mountain rescue but that hasn’t happened yet. “We are trying to share the appeal as widely as possible to get him home. “He might have a cut on his leg as he mentioned he hurt his leg on his cactus, so he could have a scratch on his leg.” READ MORE: Everything we know about Jay Slater missing in Tenerife The teenager was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt, trainers and a black bag. He is slim, with brown hair and blue eyes. Family and friends have been posting about Jay’s disappearance on social media and his mum, Debbie, has flown over to Tenerife to search for him. Groups have since been set up in an attempt to find the missing teenager. Anyone with links or family in Tenerife have been asked to share their appeal with them. A spokesperson for The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: "We are providing consular support to the family of a British man who has been reported missing in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.” https://uk.yahoo.com/news/family-iss...114600074.html |
Well its early days so outlook must be hopeful.
|
Not sure there will be a good outcome here, in the heat and if he has no water with him which is unlikely what kind of people just let him go off on his own even if they didnt know him
|
I'm suspicious of foul play here.
But I really hope that I'm wrong. |
This part of Tenerife is very baron. He should be found pretty easily, hopefully alive, but the land is rugged with lots of cliffs, not a good idea to be walking around at night.

Up in the North East where I am we've had a long list of young people over the years who have got drunk and ended up in our rivers dead. |
…just a complete nightmare for his family/loved ones…one of his friends has said that the last contact she had with him, he ‘didn’t know where he was’ and his phone was tracked to a rural area which is popular with hikers…

Presumably he set off after being up all night partying so he's sleep deprived, dehydrated, in severe heat, tough terrain, and probably with a lot of alcohol and drugs in his body he'd have become disoriented very quickly Pretty much the worst possible combination |

But hopefully Jay is okay. |
The mother of a British teenager who has gone missing during a holiday in Tenerife said having to search for her son has been “horrendous”.
Jay Slater, 19, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, was last heard from on Monday morning as he told a friend he planned to walk back to his accommodation after missing a bus, a journey expected to take around 11 hours on foot. Mr Slater’s mother, Debbie Duncan, flew to Tenerife in Spain’s Canary Islands on Tuesday morning to search for him. Ms Duncan said she feared her son, who is an apprentice bricklayer, had “been taken against his will”. He's just a great person who everyone wanted to be with Mr Slater’s mother, Debbie Duncan She told the PA news agency: “It’s just traumatic and it doesn’t feel real. It’s just awful, it’s horrendous. “I think he’s been taken against his will with what’s been said, but it’s in the hands of the police.” Speaking about her son, Ms Duncan said: “He’s just a great person who everyone wanted to be with. He’s good looking, he’s a popular boy.” Trash Takes Itself Out Every Single Time - Sudadera Con Citas Divertidas Para Mujer Black Eu:L Miravia.es Trash Takes Itself Out Every Single Time - Sudadera Con Citas Divertidas Para Mujer Black Eu:L Ad She added that the police leading the search had been “very good”. Mr Slater’s friend Lucy – who had gone to the island with him to attend the NRG music festival – told the Manchester Evening News (MEN) that he had gone to stay with people he had met on holiday after a night out. We are supporting the family of a British man who has been reported missing in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office She said she had received a call from Mr Slater at around 8.15am on Monday after he missed the bus and was trying to walk back although he had said he was lost, needed a drink of water and had only 1% battery on his phone. Mr Slater’s phone then cut off, with his last location showing as the Rural de Teno park – a mountainous area popular with hikers. Bless his how did he not realise how far he had gone in the car with the people the night before |
His phone was running out of power.
And he had little water. He would need to find a tree or something to stop the heat Drones should locate his body |
…having a child go missing is just unimaginable for any parent…but happening in another unfamiliar country and everything feeling so alien, just adds another layer of complete helplessness and despair…

ITV1HD GMBHD is there on the island
Still No body found, |
…I was looking earlier at some images of the area that the search has to cover and it’s very remote and obviously very extensive…it’s quite hilly and hostile also from the pics…the search will be very difficult, I would say…and the heat, obviously…

claims he has been kidnapped and slams Spanish police for not taking hunt seriously as search for teenager missing on Tenerife enters fourth day] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ped-fears.html |
What makes them think he'd been kidnapped? Seems unlikely
|
Unfortunately I would say there is little hope of finding him alive now...
