Did you take cooking or woodwork at school?

I would make a poll but it's been so long I've forgotten how to.

I took cooking myself.

Neither I did metalwork and the first thing I made was a hand beaten shoehorn many many years ago and its on the wall 8 feet from where I am typing now!

I did home ec, wood work and metal work in 1st year, we do loads of subjects in 1st year to see what we like. I wish I'd have kept on wood work because I really enjoyed it

I didn't take them for GCSE no but I did them in the first three years of secondary as it was compulsory. Pizza, sausage rolls, muffins, Victoria Sponge, a chunky wooden pencil case and a wooden jigsaw puzzle of a poster of a wrestler stand out. All terrible probably. :skull:

For GCSE I took Art, IT, Geography and French/Welsh (you picked one you had to do the other for some reason, I only wanted to do Welsh).

I wanted to do food tech ( as my mother was a chef ) but back in those days boys did metalwork and woodwork whilst the girls did cooking and sewing

I did both cooking & woodwork, but it wasn't called wood work as it wasn't just woodwork,it involved making a pencil holder out of plastic at one point.

Both subjects were mandatory in secondary school.

What other reason do you need to pick cooking.

We had Domestic Science (needlework and cooking) and CDT (craft, design and technology) which we did in the first 3 years and then they were options for GCSE but I didn't take either - I was neither a domestic goddess OR crafty

…yeah, me also…I did woodwork and loved it …cooking is something that’s never captured my interest at any age…edited to say that I do love to watch others cook, though…that’s the greatest aspect of cooking for me…other people doing it and me watching that skill from afar…

I do enjoy cooking but I don't like regimental cooking, I like to go off script with recipes and to take my time
