Jermaine Jenas ‘sacked by BBC’ over inappropriate conduct

Another one ......

Jermaine Jenas has been fired by the BBC after claims of ‘inappropriate behaviour’, it has been reported.

The 41-year-old – who is the face of Match of the Day and The One Show – has reportedly been taken off air and sacked by the BBC after complaints were made.

Former England football player Jenas joined The One Show in 2020 where he began co-presenting with Alex Jones and he became a permanent fixture a year later.

After retiring from football in 2016 – after stints at Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur – Jenas began working as a Match of the Day pundit, and was hotly tipped to be Gary Lineker’s future replacement.

But it appears all this has changed, as a source claimed to The Sun: ‘This is a categorical nightmare for the BBC.

‘A complaint was raised concerning Jermaine’s behaviour.

bots 22-08-2024 03:45 PM

no-one seems to be saying what the inappropriate conduct was

Beso 22-08-2024 04:02 PM

They should be telling us considering we pay his over inflated wages

MTVN 22-08-2024 04:30 PM

Sounds like a sexting thing

He was presenting live on talksport as this broke so they're obviously not too bothered lol

MTVN 22-08-2024 04:31 PM

Sacking him immediately without a suspension a bit odd though

[BBC News understands his contract was
terminated earlier this week, because of alleged
issues relating to workplace behaviour.

It followed allegations involving
digital communications such as texts,
which were raised with the corporation a
few weeks ago.

A BBC spokesperson said:
"We can confirm Jermaine Jenas
is no longer part of our presenting line-up."

He was last on air earlier in the summer.]

For Sherriff

When asked about reports that he sent unsolicited texts to a female member of staff at The One Show, he replied: “Like I said, I’m not happy about this situation.
“You know, I’m going to be speaking to my lawyers about it is all I can say right now.”

Jenas declined to elaborate about what the complaint about him related to, whether it concerned more than one colleague, if he was surprised a complaint was made against him, when he was first aware that a complaint had been made and when the BBC told him he was being sacked.
