Big Brother hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best have revealed that bosses have 'raised the bar' with 'phenomenal' new tasks in the new series, as fans count down to the show's return on Sunday.

The ultimate social experiment is set to return on October 6 with a new crop of housemates, after the show was revived by ITV last year.

Speaking to MailOnline ahead of the live launch, Will hinted that after an array of big-budget tasks last year, fans can look forward to even more during the new series.

Fan-favourite challenges in the first civilian series included the Big Wigs, the Ant Kingdom, and Big Brother's Hunger Games.

He said: 'I'm excited about the tasks. I think the tasks this this year, I think maybe some learning maybe not learning because that made it sound like there were things that could have been better.

'I mean, the tasks were phenomenal last series, but I've been speaking to the members of the team and I think they’ve kind of raised the bar even further. I think this series, I think it's been taken up a notch.'

AJ added that after the success of fronting both a civilian and celebrity series with Will, they're feeling 'less nerves' as they go into the 2024 run.

She added: 'This series, I’m going to be less nerves, more excitement. What I've learned from the previous series, is that you just never know what's gonna happen.

'All of the people that you think are gonna win and just have an experience that would be like a walk in the park isn't actually, and you just can't call it. literally you can't. So that's what's really exciting about the previous series and no doubt the next one coming up.'

Will added: 'The first series you're always going into it, there were so many nerves because we wanted to do justice to the format, we wanted to do justice to the show, that we ourselves love and would be avid fans of and watching, whether we were working on it or not.'

'Now that we've seen how the audience kind of responded to the way it was all put together, to the tone that was struck, to the set, to the new house, to the feel that it had been an ITV show, now that we've seen that that kind of that worked and, the feedback's been so lovely from people getting in touch and saying how much they loved it, how much it meant to them.

'It's almost like you know this time I almost want to focus on just like enjoying a bit more, if that makes sense. I mean, I did really enjoy the first one.

'But you know, there was that kind of question, whereas now it feels like everyone’s amazing, everyone who's making it is like the best at what they do. We know that it connects with the audience. So now let's really, really have fun.'

Grilled whether they've had a glimpse at the new house yet, both Will and AJ were tight-lipped, but did hint that it will be worked on right up until the last moment.

AJ said: 'We are going to see it before the housemates which is so exciting! They’re working on the house right up until launch night, which is so exciting.'

Will added: 'Yeah. Because we go in, we sometimes get to go in on like Friday to have a look before launch night, and they're still painting! Launch night, it still smells of wet paint!'

Big Brother fans will be treated to a brand new crop of 16 housemates when the series begins.

Following complaints that last year's launch was pre-recorded, this year it will be broadcast live.

Big Brother: Live Launch will unveil a new batch of housemates as they head into the nation’s most iconic house, which has been given a fresh lick of paint ahead of the new series.

Housemates will juggle elaborate tasks, live evictions, gripping nominations and the usual dose of drama.

Once again, the pubic will decide the fate of contestants as they vote throughout the series, with only one left standing to win the cash prize.

Meanwhile its eagerly-awaited spin-off Big Brother: Late & Live will also offer viewers 'exclusive, unmissable action alongside hilarious discussions and deliberations' with a star-studded panel of celebrity guests.

The Late & Live series will also remain the only place to watch evictees first live interview with hosts AJ and Will.

The epic reboot will air seven nights a week on ITVX, giving fans the opportunity to watch live footage from the house.

Since its glorious return to screens last year on its new home ITV and ITVX, Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother, with the Live Stream and Late & Live companion show, have been streamed 70 million times.

Series 20 was won by Jordan Sangha, who is currently in a relationship with series housemate Henry Southan, who finished third.

The pair both entered the famous house with no intentions of finding a partner, yet they left viewers gripped when their close friendship blossomed into romance, and just a week after their BB exit, they made things official.

I feel your pain. 12 or 13 at most would suffice.

I'd rather they focus on finding good housemates than big budget tasks.

Beso 01-10-2024 09:48 PM

Leonard rossi, from status quo going on the celeb version.

BBDodge 01-10-2024 09:52 PM

So what "huge change"?

It's more of the same.

It's the way a lot of Reality Shows work nowadays.

It's to disguise the fact that the production have coached the contestants to within an inch of their lives, and it would make for boring TV by itself.

Well we know by “star-studded panel” they mean yinka bikini and a drag queen.. they ain’t slick

But i do hope the tasks are better, they all seemed really poor, lazy and not memorable in the slightest in the first series

BBDodge 02-10-2024 10:50 AM

Yes, last year's tasks didn't live long in the memory. I can recall Yinrun in a silly wig but the rest of that task has faded.

Golden era tasks from BB5/6/7 were so much better.

…I thought that some task ideas were good and a bit more ‘old school’ again but they were really badly implemented…like a speed round version of, you know…they didn’t really give enough time for those more memorable moments that BB used to bring…some highlight shows devoted very little time to tasks as well…

bots 02-10-2024 07:53 PM

tasks could do with a little bit of improvement, but the one with the little bike was a cracker as was the murder mystery

There is bound to be a USA election special

Like Big Brigadier and Nadia losing her sh*t because of the lack of tobacco or cigarettes. Golden. Unfortunately tobacco use is not allowed anymore so we can scratch anything like that off the potential lineup.

Good clean fun ONLY.

I like tasks like the BB7 one, with Imogen having to sabotage it, was it something to do with milk or sugar cubes? Anyway endurance tasks that last through the night

Beastie 03-10-2024 07:30 PM

Could make Big Brother more into a game. They all take on a challenge. The person who finishes last is evicted. Survival of the strongest.

Beastie 03-10-2024 07:32 PM

I liked the challenge in BB7. They had to stand on a box, the one who lasted longest was immune from eviction.
Instead... Do the same challenge but the one who comes off first is evicted straight away.
Don't do a Nikki then and quit straight away
