Alice in Borderland - Season 3 due for 25th September release (Netflix)

The third season of the popular Netflix series Alice in Borderland is officially in production, and fans are eagerly awaiting new episodes. Following the success of the previous two seasons, the series is set to return with fresh challenges and intriguing mysteries for its characters.
Fans hoping for an imminent release of Alice in Borderland season 3 might need to exercise patience.
According to reports from Robot Communications, the show's production began in September 2023 and was expected to wrap in February 2024.
However, the filming timeline has already seen delays, as revealed by producer Akira Morii in May. Morii shared that production had yet to finish, casting doubt on an early release.
Given the production history of the series, where there was a nine-month gap between the end of filming and the release of previous seasons, it's unlikely that season 3 will premiere before 2025. While a December 2024 release is still possible, fans should expect the new season to drop in early or mid-2025, as mentioned in a report by Digital Spy.
The core cast of Alice in Borderland will return for season 3, with Kento Yamazaki reprising his role as Arisu, and Tao Tsuchiya back as Usagi. Both characters have endured numerous challenges and life-threatening situations, making their return highly anticipated by fans.
In addition to these two leads, several other characters are expected to return, including Aya Asahina (Kuina), Nijirô Murakami (Chishiya), and Ayaka Miyoshi (Ann). Newcomer Yuri Tsunematsu, who made an impact in season 2 as Heiya, is also expected to reprise her role.
Notably, characters like Niragi (Dori Sakurada) and Aguni (Shô Aoyagi), who surprisingly survived season 2 despite seeming fates, are likely to appear again. On the other hand, characters like Tatta (Yutaro Watanabe), who perished in season 2, are not expected to return.
The ending of season 2 left viewers with more questions than answers, especially with the revelation of the Joker card. While Arisu and his friends believed they had returned to the real world, the appearance of this mysterious card suggests they might still be trapped in the game.
Season 3 could dive deeper into the mysteries of the Borderlands, exploring new levels of the game with more complex and dangerous challenges. Fans can expect new references to Alice in Wonderland, as Tweedledum and Tweedledee have yet to appear, and the Joker could be the most manipulative villain yet.
Arisu’s journey may also shift towards understanding the true nature of the games and whether they are in a virtual reality environment, as hinted in the final episodes of season 2. The characters might have to break free from this pseudo-reality while struggling with the loss of memory regarding their relationships and previous experiences.
New threats are likely to arise, and Banda (Hayato Isomura) and Yaba (Katsuya Maiguma), who became citizens of the game, may return as gamemasters. With the stakes getting higher and the rules becoming even more complex, season 3 is expected to explore more psychological and physical challenges for Arisu and his group.
Unfortunately, there is no official trailer for Alice in Borderland season 3 as of now. With production still underway, fans will need to wait a little longer for any sneak peeks or teasers.
