Much better start than last year?

The group feels more reminiscent of a C4/5 group. I can see a lot more tension this time around. Sadly lacking last year.

Whatever meager amount of tension there is to be found in the first day or two has been at least less manufactured than it was during last year's opening shows. So there's that, anyway.

Mrluvaluva 08-10-2024 11:09 AM

For me, it's too early to call. Personally, Lily is grating on me already, but, people are exuberant and overwhelmed less than 48 hours in. 2nd episode always just recaps most of launch night which I've always found pointless. I think tonight's episode will be much better as we will see them spending their first full day together.

The launch was one of the most underwhelming I can remember, but then the first highlights show was one of the better ones.

Yes. I totally agree.

Yeah it definitely feels more like classic Big Brother to me. Not as box-ticky as last year for sure

Gusto Brunt 08-10-2024 11:49 AM

Yeah, not even Lilly annoys me. :p

…the last two launches have just felt quite rushed to me…?…I don’t know if I’m just recalling the past ones differently but it felt as though we saw more of the housemates on their entry into the house…

Nah you’re right. They feel very rushed, like not even a house tour, just straight down to business

…yeah I’d forgotten the house tour actually but you’re right, that all added to it for us in hyping up our own enthusiasm because otherwise they’re all just faces going it…it’s a bit like an audience who would usually have a ‘warm up person’ getting them hyped for the main act……thing is, the seasons are shorter so we really need to feel as though we’ve got to know them very quickly, that’s important…there are too many key elements missing that the ‘old school’ had…

Hey lovely. Hope you're doing fine. I didn't like last years launch show as it was prerecorded. Sunday's launch show was much better for me.

I prefer it this way, in fact I would be happy for the hnms bios to be released to the public only when they are up for eviction..take nathan for examples.. boood for being a royalist on the way in..

…yeah I agree that it was a much better launch this year being live…and hey, hey you……I hope that your world is being good to you also, it’s wonderful to see such familiar names returning…that for me brings the nostalgia of BB back for me also…Stu returned last season which was lovely, I’m not sure if he will this year and Shaun also popped in on launch night and Lemonjam pops in and out also I think…

GlitterUK 08-10-2024 03:56 PM

I feel the contestants this year are all playing a part more than ever, I think most have game plans (which isn't always a bad thing) and are playing a role rather than being themselves.

Little Brother 08-10-2024 04:26 PM

Saying that it's better than last year is not really saying a lot now is it?

GlitterUK 08-10-2024 05:16 PM

I personally think the divide task right from the start doesn't help. It is hard to get to know people and groups when they have split them up. I wonder how long the task will last?

I would prefer them all together from the start and then a task like it or rich/poor half way through.

Ammi 08-10-2024 05:57 PM

…^^…lovely to see you back for the season, GlitterUK…

It shouldn’t be too long, i’d say it should probably end tomorrow then we’ll probably find out who’s up for eviction on thursday

It's a macchiavellian stratagem to create an environment fertile for strife.
Division is conducive to promoting enmity. It takes less time than allowing mutual detestation to develop organically., as it did last year.
In 2023 it took quite a while for the mutual detestation that eventually defined the two groups to emerge, as they engaged in the charade of being the best of friends at the beginning. On day one they loved each other, wouldn't say a bad word about anyone but swore eternal love and fealty to the very housemates they eventually hated with a vengeance,
By creating an instant divide, Big Brother has speeded up the process of introducing fear and loathing (not in Las Vegas).
Sit back and marvel at the gorgeous butterfly metamorphosing into a rancid dung beetle.
Let the skunkfest begin.

The question could've been answered in one word, but you gave an essay that I never knew I needed. I loved every word of it.

Adamw92 08-10-2024 08:00 PM

I actually felt a little more invested in last years show quicker
