Nathan vs Daze

In their debate tonight who were you siding with?

Oliver_W 09-10-2024 08:19 PM

I'm a tree hugger so I should be on Daze's side ... but she's just a limousine liberal who's incapable of making her point.

Cherie 09-10-2024 08:19 PM

Nate bit worried how much airtime he is getting..:worry:

Mystic Mock 09-10-2024 11:24 PM

Neither as they both at different points made points that I strongly disagree with.

GoldHeart 09-10-2024 11:57 PM

I see both their points, but I agreed more with Segun when he said if you go too far one way or another it can be .. destructive.

But I think both Daze & Nathan have tunnel vision on topics.

I don't think Nathan will ever truly understand the issues people face .....classism ,poverty & healthcare problems.

But on the other hand I don't think Daze will ever admit or see that activism ... especially where climate change is concerned ,has become an attention seeking embarrassment.

During their debate Lily was like a little child in a classroom watching 2 teachers argue, her head just kept turning back & forth like a tennis match :joker:. As she looks confused & puzzled.

Exactly
Which another reason why I'm very much central . I don't think I'll ever be on either side. Both will make little points I may agree with, but then they'll both say stuff that makes me think...erm NOPE lol .

In my opinion, this sums up the whole situation and those involved effectively.

I agree to some extent with the views of both, but at the same time, I disagree with some of their thinking, and that’s because these issues are so much more complex than either suggested. I agree with both you and Segun about the dangers of extreme and close-minded thinking.

I think Nathan expressed his points more calmly and respectfully, and he seemed able to think them through in a more-considered way. Daze, in contrast, seemed to respond more impulsively, and in my view, made sweeping and well-rehearsed statements. She didn’t offer solutions, or address the complexities he raised.

I’m beginning to see different aspects of Nathan’s character in tonight’s show and in the Live Stream. Much to my surprise, I’m finding myself liking him more as time goes on, and I can see his value as a housemate.

Daze: "It's about 'installing ethics' into people" ... well, that's troubling...

I think that Nathan isn't the best orator on this topic, either. He understands that we need growing business to build a healthy economy, sure, but doesn't seem to grasp that people really do feel stiffed by an increasingly stratified economic situation.

That's exactly my thinking too.

You can tell by Daze's presence and even the way that she speaks, that she is one of those people who has been brainwashed and consumed by a cause. She has no idea about life struggles or what actual working people deal with every day. She has never had to pay a heating or gas bill or fill her car up to get to her job or take her kids to school. The climate brigade are all about big actions in order to "do something", but those big actions will mean literally letting half of the world's poor starve to death and make it impossible for normal people in the Western world to live above poverty.

Agreed. I generally agree with Nathan but Daze would also be right to say that Nathan's view of capitalism - if you work hard you get what you deserve - doesn't always apply and that capitalism can fail a lot of people

All her thoughts and opinions were diluted as soon as she said she needed to wash her ‘tw*t’

Save the planet vs Save the monarchy.

Obvious which is most important.

joeysteele 10-10-2024 01:13 PM

Overall neither.
Not for or against them as individuals on their points.

It was the case like with Mock.
They both made points I would disagree with but also both made points I'd agree with too.

However I really like their debates and exchanges when they engage in them.

GlitterUK 10-10-2024 02:55 PM

I like Nathan he seems a nice guy. Daze has an agenda to be the next Greta wannabe.
