Everest mystery - Did Mallory and Irvine reach summit in 1924?
I used my month of Discovery + to watch a documentary called Everest's Greatest Mystery about the 2019 expedition to search of the remains of Andrew Irvine, and the camera that might solve the mystery of whether they reached the summit.
It covered the story well and really showed the danger of the mountain. |
New evidence that the Chinese might have discovered Irvine and the camera in 1975 and took it away, but they couldn't develop the film.
Interview. Here is the article that was written about it - https://www.salon.com/2022/04/08/the...mystery-china/ I want to read that book. |
Big new discovery in the news today. Andrew Irvine boot found.
BBC News - Family tells of 'relief' after 1924 climber’s foot found on Everest https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cy0g2p47xd5o https://www.nationalgeographic.com/a...-found-everest |
…wow if the DNA sample proves to be him and his boot…I wonder how the family are feeling right now …

Researcher Jochen Hemmleb post. Quote:

…so…(…excuse the pun…)…not really a foot forward in knowing whether the summit was reached or not, then…and nothing conclusive to be determined form the discovery…
