Popular foods you dislike

I'll go.

1. Ham

2. Canned tuna (the actual fish is lovely).

3. Eggs. I actually quite like scrambled eggs in Asian fried rice and can just-about tolerate certain types of omelette (provided they have enough cheese and/or tomato in them) but that's all I can tolerate. I absolutely hate, hate, hate boiled eggs.

I love sweet potato (especially for chips, especially when duck fat's involved) but agree re. olives. Gross.

Cucumber
Watermelon

NASTY

Also don't love Spaghetti Bolognese , I wouldn't say I hate it but I don't enjoy it, it's a chore to eat it and sometimes I have to because everyone else in the world seems to love it

The only food I really don't like is raw celery and I didn't really like some organ meats before I went vegetarian but that's all really. I have always been very adventurous with food and I love trying new and exotic foods to this day.

Like watermelon, don't like cucumber (at all).

Bread (if it's not toasted)
Rice (unless it's in the form of sushi and vine leaves)
Lettuce
Dark chocolate
Coffee
Cooked onions
Raw tomatoes
Cucumber (I love the flavour/taste in a drink though)
Mayonnaise
Butter
Olive oil

Ammi 17-10-2024 04:15 PM

…mushrooms, cucumber, bananas, olives, cottage cheese, tuna, salmon, prawns or any seafood, I’ll stop…

Bread: agreed. I only like the posh Italian-style bread if it’s not going to be toasted. I’m not much of a sandwich person, either. I like wraps but not sandwiches, particularly.

Also agreed re. lettuce, dark chocolate, raw tomato, mayo. (don’t mind it with chips but I’d still rather not) and … ya, cucumber’s rank all-’round.

I don’t like banana, either (I’d rather eat plantain). It all started with a teacher in the lunch-canteen back in reception getting her bad breath all over my banana and since then I’ve never looked at bananas the same way.

I’m certainly no fan of cottage cheese, either.

Redway 17-10-2024 04:27 PM

Mustard, dill, pickles, hummus, anchovies … all a no from me, still.

smudgie 17-10-2024 04:54 PM

My biggest no no is boiled/mashed/ jacket potatoes.
I can eat some roasties but has to be particular spuds.
No offal or tripe either.

Redway 17-10-2024 04:57 PM

I don’t rate jacket potatoes, to be fair.

Mushrooms
Celery (can cope if it's cooked but raw is a non no)
Raw onion
Spring onions
Steak
Mussels
Lamb

…oh that would do it with the banana and form an attachment that would link back to that…strangely, banana is a flavour I love…it’s more the texture for me with foods that I struggle with…

Can the vegetarians please refrain from stretching the page.

Benjamin 17-10-2024 05:06 PM

Well, marmite by its very nature is at the very least as unpopular as it is popular. You either love it or loathe it.

…oh I’m with you with custard creams and bourbons, I’m not really much to eating biscuits in general but this one’s in particular and ginger snaps…probably my sweet weakness would be home baked cake…but I’m more a savoury person…
