No but it comes from AAVE (black Americans) and has existed for over 40 years but only now people of different demographics have adopted the term and made it more current slang all over.

Other words this happened with; Bruh, fam, no cap, bussin and so many more

Yeah, for a long time it was LGBTQ people who were adopting a lot of AAVE terms but because of the Internet Gen Alpha are picking up a whole lot of vernacular, especially from the US.
