What exactly is Nathan trying to say when he says he’s right-wing?

Should we be worried?

blisstheassassin 31-10-2024 03:35 AM

This thread brought me out of lurk mode.

Firstly I think that it's important to remember that not everybody who votes the same way, thinks the same way. For example I did vote Labour at the last election but I certainly didn't agree with all Daze's view points.

Also Nathan seems pretty well liked in the house so far and even people who obviously don't agree with him politically ie. Ali, Emma and Khalid seem quite fond of him. Even Daze and him didn't nominate each other in the first week despite their many debates ( I think they secretly enjoyed them).

To make a long story short I think it's wrong to assume the worst in someone.

Mystic Mock 31-10-2024 04:15 AM

I think with Nathan I'm going to guess that he probably wants more controlled immigration to be a priority in the country, and he is a big royalist (which the royals are incredibly popular with the right) plus he probably believes that the Tories will do better with the Economy and law & order.

Because I don't believe that Nathan is a racist.

vesavius 31-10-2024 06:04 AM

I am just going to say here though that having right wing views does not make you racist or immoral. I meet more left wingers obsessed with race than the vast majority of right wingers are, tbh.

Right wing simply means low taxes, personal agency, private ownership, free speech, small government, and traditional values such as the value of the family and respect for cultural history. I personally like all these things.

I have no problems with anyone center right or center left... It's the authoritarian nut job extremists of either end that bother me.

Nathan has shown zero signs of being at all racist, and I say this not really liking him and thinking he is a bit of a twat.

…this so much for me, also…no political side is good when it’s an extreme side…I’m not sure but I think Nathan’s eyebrow raised a bit when others said they were Labour supporters…I hope that he also has that stance of not judging on politics …I have to say that I’m glad there haven’t been too many politics chats also as it’s good to get away from that type of overload as well…

joeysteele 31-10-2024 06:22 AM

I voted the second option.

I feel he may be another who has more easily fallen for the spouting of Farage.
Because that's who he claims he admired in politics.

No, Nathan's not racist.
I'd like to hear more of his deeper thinking, not on BB though, I don't think BB viewers want too much of politics on BB.
However I found how he debated with Daze interesting because he seemed open to at least some of what she was saying.

There's nothing wrong with being right wing or left wing.
So his identifying as being right wing doesn't indicate anything really negative about him at all

This

Vega 31-10-2024 07:32 AM

Nathan when they asked him to justify the royal privilege he had nothing

Crimson Dynamo 31-10-2024 07:35 AM

rather silly and derisory options so i never voted

and a silly question as being right wing or left wing is not a complex issue to understand

UserSince2005 31-10-2024 07:47 AM

Hes trying to say hes better than the rest of em, which he is.

Vicky. 31-10-2024 08:30 AM

I have seen absolutely nothing to suggest he may be racist

People trying to label Nathan, maybe just because he is a Tory, He has not shown any signs of racism at all, he seems to me to mix with them all and is enjoying his experience without any malice going on.I might be the only one but I like him.

Well said.
Mind I have no clue what he goes on about half the time,in general not his politics.

Niamh. 31-10-2024 09:51 AM

Very provocative wording there. It makes your Polls hard to vote in

Worried about what? That someone we'll never meet might believe in smaller state and lower taxes?

The horror!

(I'm ignoring the poll because the options you give are always the "worst take" view of any opinion)

Yeah. Homophobic would have probably been thrown in there too if it wasn’t Nathan :bored:

bots 31-10-2024 10:34 AM

if we are referring to the same conversation, it could be said that those voicing support for corbyn are the ones with a problem given he was an ex leader who was thrown out of the party for antisemitism

:clap1: I agree with this. In the past I have voted Tories and identified as centre-right mainly due to my economic stances, I do like small government and private ownership etc... socially, I would say I'm more centre-left and so each election I just feel politically homeless

Nathan is the kind of right-wing that most people who are right wing are. I firmly believe 90% of the population sit between centre-right and centre-left and most live along one another harmoniously because there is often very little difference between the two, in the grand scheme of things.

Absolutely

GoldHeart 31-10-2024 12:35 PM

As usual the poll doesn't have the right description,so I will not vote .

But I will say I think Nathan is a bit classist , he deffo pre judges people . I don't particularly think he's a nice guy if I'm honest. He's got a smugness to him, and a air of know it all syndrome.

He's a massive royalist,he probably thinks the sun shines out their backside.... he's also bias in that respect as he worked for Charles.

He has an ideology where he thinks the Tories will save Britain ,and get us all out the sh1tter , I personally think he's mistaken.

He slags down labour, whilst ignoring all the faults in the conservatives. We've had 15 years of huge embarrassing moments whilst in a Tory government, and Nathan brushes over that.

He arrogantly thinks his party is the right one . When in reality .... like Hanah was pointing out it's about the type of leader they appoint.

I don't think Nathan is racist , but he probably will believe any misinformation he's fed ...if he likes that particular leader or MP.

Nathan's main views seem to be economy, Royals & immigration control.

Garfie 31-10-2024 02:04 PM

He’s said he is Conservative. He believes in the main stance of a certain political party, but might not necessarily agree with every single policy. To me, it says no more than that, unless we choose to read more into it. We have to judge him for what he says and what he does, not according to which political party he supports, as that gives just an indication of what he thinks and who he is. It isn’t the full picture.

Agreed, and I feel the same regarding being politically homeless.

Get Nathan out the disgusting little creep. First he targets Martha and now Dean.
