Labour has Changed LGBTQ to LGBT+

[Sir Keir Starmer's government has begun
using LGBT+ instead of LGBT across all
departments, the Express understands.

Ministers are said to have approved
the change in acronym following
the general election.]

LGBT+ is fine,

Even drop the + tbh. LGBT already covers all of the variations from being straight or cis.

Mystic Mock 05-11-2024 07:06 AM

I just say LGBT tbh.

Nicky91 05-11-2024 08:22 AM

I see they finally got access to the premium plan.

I always see it as being said LGTBQ+ or one of the other ones with extra letters... LGBT sounds more like a hamburger now.

Lesbians get a lot of shtick from Trans... But still they're lumped in together. Not sure how useful that is.

Are you sure about that? Trans people have the highest acceptance levels within the lesbian community. Are there any stats to back up your claim?

Ironically this (as a quantitative stat) is most likely because of the societal expectation of high-agreeability placed upon women, and the greater social consequences for dissent.

Why is that most likely, rather than the most simple explanation being that they are just generally and without pressurising, the most accepting group when it comes to supporting trans people? If I read this forum, I'm constantly told that gay men are the trans communities biggest advocates. Seems like everyone has a reason for why someone else would choose to support trans people, other than acceptance.

It's most likely because you'll find above-average levels of acceptance and agreeability and lower than average levels of social dissent in any all-female group polled on any subject, so for it not to be true in this case it would have to be an outlying result.

And there is ample research and data describing the reasons for higher than average levels of agreeability in women.

Also ample data showing that the same is not true of trans women. But is true of trans men. Make of that what you will.

It’s up to him what he wants to say. He’s not speaking for Labour.
