Never had scuffles at the dinner table and I don't know anyone else who has. People don't care that deeply about politics like the media makes it seem. But yeah being poked fun or having recent questionable life choices pointed out at the family table is a much much more common theme.

We do two Thanksgivings. I go over to my family and then the next day we have our own and ours is more friend-oriented. A couple of years I've invited Japanese friends over for Thanksgiving a few times and they've never had turkey so they love it when there's an opportunity to have some and they don't have to deal with the hours of clean up...
