Christmas food shop/when do you go and where do you go?…

…where and when does your Christmas food shop happen and do you love to do it or totally dread it…or are you a smart online shopper and avoid the crowds and queues etc…?…

A mix of Aldi and M&S. we have some bits already. Will get the last few bits leading up to Christmas.

bots 07-12-2024 07:07 AM

we order the frozen stuff a few weeks in advance. Everything bought online through Ocado/M&S

AnnieK 07-12-2024 07:35 AM

I'm not a fan of online food shopping, especially fresh stuff. I like to see what I'm buying.

Hate the Christmas food shop though.....people are brutal in those final days running up to Christmas.

I pick up bits of frozen stuff in the weeks before then get the fresh stuff as close to Christmas as possible to get best dates but go at 6am to try and miss the main crowds. Last year everyone had the same idea I think and it was bedlam:laugh:

Aldi and the local butcher

Good Mix.

A mix of the butcher, Aldi, and M and S

Most of the non perishables I start buying early, at this stage its just the veg and picking up the turkey so literally done ..feels smug

Livia 07-12-2024 10:33 AM

Morrisons, bit from Waitrose because it's Christmas... got most of it now, just the perishables to get just before and pick up the turkey from the farm down the road on 23rd.

smudgie 07-12-2024 12:23 PM

Normally start early November or even late October.
My daughter runs around for all the fresh veg once it goes on offer at silly prices, we tend to bulk buy it, enough for xmas and new year.
Pork x2 is in the freezer, beef x2 is in the freezer, just need to pick up the turkey.
Desserts are chosen, cakes, chocs etc are all bought and ready.
We end up eating xmas stuff up until Easter at times.

Some bits from Aldi as there special buys are pretty good. But mainly ASDA. And because I have no self control and would eat it all now if I got it all in I will wait until next Friday to get it all

Or Carnation cream

Redway 11-12-2024 01:55 PM

Morrisons, Asda and, when I can afford it, Waitrose. As usual. That’s on the continental side of things.

Beso 11-12-2024 01:58 PM

I only need chocolates. Lots if chocolates. Also a replacement baileys.. hey its tradition!

Niamh. 11-12-2024 01:59 PM

Dunnes Stores, we pick up bits and pieces along the way through December but get the fresh stuff 23rd usually

Vanessa 13-12-2024 10:16 AM

I have the Coop just in front of me. So usually there. But sometimes I also go to Lidl. They have some great fish for Christmas. I actually prefer it to the turkey.

Kazanne 13-12-2024 03:30 PM

We go to Waitrose as its in town,we do have an Aldi and Lidl but its way off on the industrial estate, so Waitrose is near, we wont be having Turkey but we have altenatives but kids will get their meat if they want it .
