Royal Mail sold to Czech Tycoon Daniel Kretinsky : Unions happy
I was amazed to see
the Union Boss backing this take over. He spoke on BBC1HD AM [The sale of Royal Mail's parent company to a Czech billionaire has been approved by the government. The £3.6bn takeover by Daniel Kretinsky's EP Group has been given the go-ahead after agreeing "legally binding" undertakings. The government will retain a so-called "golden share" that will require it to approve any major changes to Royal Mail's ownership, HQ location and tax residency. EP Group will also have to maintain the one-price-goes-anywhere Universal Service Obligation (USO), which currently means it has to deliver letters six days per week, Monday to Saturday, and parcels Monday to Friday. The company has committed to maintaining the USO for as long as it owns Royal Mail. Earlier this year, Mr Kretinsky told the BBC he would honour the service - in whatever form it takes - "for as long as I am alive". The USO is currently under review, with Royal Mail suggesting to regulator Ofcom that reducing second class deliveries to every other weekday would save up to £300m a year and give the business "a fighting chance".] https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckg93390808o Life In The City |

The real irony I suppose is just the party being called "Conservative" :joker:. What shall we do with all of our Great British organisations and services? Are they profitable? No? Then we shall sell them to the highest Global bidder, of course! "But now nothing is British any more :( " Big shock. |

oh and Don’t be fooled by the crown on the logo and the word ‘Royal’ in the name. It’s just a company.

We're in this bizarre situation where we now have a group of (confused, undereducated) people crowing and advocating for Tory free-market economics whilst at the same time getting upset that the people who had the most money for buying in that free market weren't from a pub in Farnborough. In short; If you want free reign right-wing free-market economics, ultimately everything in the country is going to be owned by investors from abroad. Mostly the Middle East and Asia. It's that simple. |

I probably added it to block the same word without the 'd', for some reason. I could change to allow the whole word. |

@James can't we just change it so that most words are uncensored, but add an intro video that plays every time the site loads, that shouts PEGI 15!! Then it's the fault of the kids themselves if they continue to browse. I mean let's face it... a few naughty words is minimally harmful compared to some of the other content they're going to find in SD's...
