Christmas market in the eastern
German city of Magdeburg.

German news agency dpa reports that
the driver has been arrested.

Police said on X that extensive operations
were taking place at the Magdeburg
Christmas market.

The market in the city centre was closed
and further reports would follow, police added.

Magdeburg, which is west of Berlin,
is the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt
