Best NYE In the World?
Which city does it best?
I guess mainly for fireworks but also tradition like Edinburgh and Kyoto. I'll do a poll of the big ones I know are good. |
NYC

none
its fake fun the reality is overcrowding and social media likes |
Auckland NY was terribly overrated and sky tower fireworks were shite. We ended up just having house parties instead.

the covid fireworks in london were the best we've seen i think
I wish they'd move away from the london eye. But its definitely at the london eye again this year because i saw them testing out the lights last week. |

Alf's house does it best.
A bottle of Moet and a bottle of Glenfiddich. And and Indian takeaway. In the warmth and comfort. I know who's winning. |
NY is fabulous.

My living room with good food, my pups and the family. My neighborhood goes all out. Some of them will pop off at 11pm with the Eastern Timezone and then the rest at 12am, so if we feel the need to join any festivities, we can just open the blinds... where I was growing up, I used to be able to see downtown in the distance as our city is very flat. We could watch the local show that way, albeit it was a bit distant...

Hate anywhere but home on NYE

Celebrate at the Gate, Brandenburg Tor
the atmosphere from what i can see on tv, very joyous all in all, although recent years came with stricter security measures for understandable reasons of course, and in the covid lockdown year they had live on stage performers but with virtual audiences shown on screens, and the hosts interacting with regular and VIP people through video links also there can be quite surprising performances, like american singer-songwriter Justin Jesso doing a acoustic piano version of Stargazing for the host Andrea ''Kiwi'' Kiewel, since they are good friends or scottish tiktok sea shanty phenomenon Nathan Evans doing one of his hits all the while with a riverdance group or the rock band Scorpions last year with a new version to ''Winds of Change'' special one for Ukraine, same how Alphaville's Marian Gold performed ''Forever Young'' with ukrainian artist Tina Karol who did her bits in ukrainian or former Les Humphries Singers star Jurgen Drews a magical touching duet with his daughter Joelina, that had me in tears since that was Jurgen's first performance after his recovery from cancer, as well as covid pandemic kinda hitting his restaurant business in Mallorca, Ballermann quite hard, the financial blow of the lockdown i mean |
…some of the best New Year’s Eve destinations according to Forbes are Hong Kong, Paris, New York, Las Vegas and Quebec….
…non of the above and staying at home with a great guy and a great bit of TV is also pretty spectacular, I would say…… |
These days there's nowhere I'd rather be less than at a packed NYE bash.
Also In my younger days when I did enjoy a ... bit of a party ... the best NYE I had (hands down, by a significant margin) was an open house party in a small village. Absolutely fkn wild. Wild. I swear they just don't do things like the late 90's/early 2k's any more, that lovely middle class cottage was obliterated :joker:. |
Okay so a lot of you want to stay at home but you must have the London fireworks on the tv right? So you voting london?

I will probably be fast asleep so can't say I care much.
Pleasant enough to see on the TV the next day. Packed out places to see some fireworks, no thank you!! |
Sydney and Hong Kong have been the best so far. Dubais turn now.

The Dubai one was interesting with the focus on technology rather than fireworks Then the Paris display was good with a fabulous backdrop |
