I enjoyed watching the fireworks, and Sophie Ellis Bexter singing. Then I switched over to Joel Holland :) .

We're in the middle of some major flooding here. I live near the Mersey and it's burst it's banks....not enough to affect my house but I've never seen the river like it. We have people being rescued by dinghy....and have just been warned of possible power outages.

Around 40mm has fallen in Liverpool area today

not too excessive

but around Manchester and Liverpool 60mm fell yesterday

AND THAT is a 2 day problem in winter when there is little run off

I'm just near Didsbury in South Manchester, it's unbelievable. The river often runs high but I've never seen it like this before. The police. Fire service and even Mountain rescue have in attendance

Annie, it's the same in Wigan. Some areas are very badly flooded. All the emergency services are out.

Yeah. I'd seen the reports from Wigan too.

Scary stuff

…The images I saw yesterday were pretty terrifying and a complete nightmare situation …I mean, people having to leave their homes is just not something that is prepared for in the UK with the more mild weather conditions we’ve known…thankfully, human life is not being lost and the rescue services seem to be doing such a great job…but obviously there is going to be and require a lot of ‘rebuilding’ from this…I’m thinking of you both……
