Best time of your life in more recent times

I’ve made a thread about the reverse (worst times) but let’s talk about best times, in the last 10 years.

If you could combine the two middle quarters of 2018 (for all my personal issues and flaws at the time, which was instrumental in that brief period coming to an end in the first place) and the first half of 2022, I’d be onto a winner. That’s me.

In both times I didn’t fully deep just-how good I had it at the time and how much better things could’ve been this time 3 years ago if I had more direct access to certain resources. But yeah. People don’t always know the victories you achieve in your personal journey but when you yourself look back on the inner work you did, it illuminates and gives you a fresh perspective on life, even if other people don’t really know or see it. You know you better than anyone.

2020, and my 50th.

Just at the start of covid. Got the whole train to myself on my trip back down to London after the weekend surrounded by snottery French rugby fans in edinburgh.

A whole train...for me..

So weird after the journey up there, 4 days before the lockdown. Rammed, absolutely rammed.

But yeah, working during covid was bliss in london. Roads were empty. Nobody bothered you in thier house..

The clanging of the pans on a thursday. Dont know what the birds, who had been deprived of noise all week thought of that...but they(the birds) were nice to listen to on an early evening at the window as the sun went down at the same pace as the lager.

Good times looking back.

2015, 2019 and 2021 were by-far the worst for me. But the first lockdown was quite bliss for me an. all. I didn’t mind that part of 2020 at all. It helped that I traded over-boozing with banana bread, even before the idea started trending on Instagram/social media. I just had the foresight to drum up some ’nana bread.

Banana or lager...hmmm...

I like the taste of banana but not the texture of banana itself. So while I can do banana bread and banana-flavoured milkshakes without hesitation, I can’t actually eat banana like it’s plantain. One nasty teacher put me off it when I was a kindergartener (year-reception) by coming close to me, with her awful breath, as I was eating one. It just happened to be banana that I was eating and not turkey-twizlers or apple crumble. I’m pretty sensitive about people getting close to me if their breath isn’t all that. I know it’s not practical to have rosy-smelling breath throughout any-one day, 24/7, and I’m no better really but ya. This incidence with bad breath from a mean teacher breathing over my banana just put me off.

Welcoming my child into the world this time last year.
My family meeting my child last summer.
Taking my child to visit the place I grew up in.

Probably 2018.

It's the year when we got our Cat, and she holds a special place in my heart.

And the thing is 2022 (up-until the end of June) wins. Even with less money. I haven’t been able to get past what could’ve been with more resources.
