What is there to say? The situation for these severely disabled children - living in pain - is utterly horrendous. The idea that any modern society would allow this is depressing and disgusting - it's not just the "lack of funding" - it's the fact that making their lives comfortable would cost so much in the first place. It's a damning indictment of the current state of the human condition. I hope anyone would feel the same about this shocking example of lacking healthcare.
Now, beyond that, and considering the above, using the thread about these children to have a pop about a cultural and political probleme du jour (trans issues) is fkn bleak. Just bleak.
I agree with you on the issue of hormonal and surgical interventions in trans healthcare and I also agree that there are shocking issues around it and a massive lack of due diligence when it comes to physical and psychological safety, my post history I think makes that very clear, but immediately shunting this story over in that direction? Dismal. Just a dismal decision.
