Fury as 500-year-old Oak Tree is cut down by
Toby Carvery in London over 'health and safety' fears Police say nothing has been done wrong. https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2025/04...4727819827.jpg [The oak tree was described as 'one of Enfield's most iconic trees' before it was chopped down] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...g-felling.html Paid Workers to Cut it Down https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2025/04...4728528802.jpg https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2025/04...4729598826.jpg Many Locals say it was wrong of the Pub. |
No respect
|
Horrible people.
|
Disgusting
|
They obviously got a qualified tree surgeon to inspect the tree and submitted a health report
The council will have been consulted and did their own checks Local Council take cutting down trees very seriously I know all this because my brother has had to jump through hoops to get his own trees cut And if you knowing leave a dangerous tree standing and don’t take action you will be liable for someone’s death or damage to property that can see you put in prison or bankrupt |
If it was unsafe then they were right to cut it down. Common sense no?

That Car Park could be made smaller never full. Toby Cavery Evil |
Very sad, but 400 years is a very long time for any tree... I love our oak and if anything happened to it, I would probably be depressed. So I can understand if a tree is a fixture and a core part of someone's life, its loss is felt very much by some.
I'm not an expert, and it's hard to say by the photos, but I can see spots where it looks like it is declining significantly. One would hope steps were taken before that point to be able to try to save it because that doesn't happen overnight. |
The Professional Cutting Team
went too far. |

That tree would of had a a tree preservation order on it meaning it couldn’t be cut with going through the proper process so it was legal to be cut down or even trimmed On this occasion I actually know what I’m talking about And if you get permission to cut trees down with preservation orders on them you have to replant the same type of trees in that location |

It sadly did not. Live on TV news TODAY. Land Leased by Toby Cavery. |

The Leader of the Local Council

I wonder what happened to the wood they harvested.
|
I feel bad for not caring :bawling:
|
Not sure why the police immediately closed the case, should be an investigation at least to see what steps were followed

Anyone who drives in The Car Park can take it. What stinks is Toby Cavery, are not showing their report on the tree. BBC1HD London News Live invited the owners on, but they declined |
Quote:
to have a report on why they cut it down |
It’s a bloody tree on a private companies property, get a grip
|
Quote:
Plus it wasn't actually their property and it can be a criminal offense to do this. Think Toby Carvery are the ones who need to get a grip. |
