Tibb Big Brother Task 5 : Tribute Thread : Freddie Mercury

as part of a task in TiBB Big Brother, we had to make a tribute thread for an iconic celebrity, and i've chosen to do mine on the King of British Music that was the top frontman of Queen: Freddie Mercury, so let's talk about all those iconic queen bangers as well as Freddie's solo work, like that epic duet with Montserrat Caballet '''Barcelona''' or Living On My Own

and let this hopefully get as many posts as possible

Nicky - I think its meant to be a dead celebrity

oh yes, the whole you can only talk good about those no longer among us

forgive me if i interpreted it as creating a tribute thread for an Icon (regardless of still active, or those no longer among us)

Kate literally said in the task description that it has to be a deceased celebrity.

Queen will always be nostalgic to me - my Mum and Dad were big fans of their early stuff and the records were always on in my house when I was younger.

Bohemian Rhapsody although overplayed will always remind me of being a little kid and then when I was at school when Freddie died and they re-released it.

Also loved The Show Must Go On......such poignant lyrics

Nicky91 25-04-2025 01:51 PM

i very much love the instrumentals in One Vision

i reckon Queen will always remain epic to many people, also because of Live Aid, watched by so many people across the world, that was quite something to pull off for that time (not so much for these modern times i guess)

i also love how many of todays artists are still influenced by their hits

His performance at live aid will never be beaten. A true icon.

I've stood on the table that him and princess Diana got up on to boogie the night away deep in the heart of Vauxhall, London.

Freddie and Queen have a huge place in my heart.

Favourite song..Don't stop me now. Very uplifting.

I love Queen's first three albums, especially the second "sides" of Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack.

Question?

What do people think about Adam Lambert as Freddie's substitute?

Does he do the songs justice?

Cherie 25-04-2025 04:18 PM

Still recall when Freddie died I was devastated

He's okay, different enough so you're not thinking about how much better Freddie is.

He's very theatrical, his performances seem more "choreographed" than Freddie's, although he's not following a dance routine per say ...

I dunno, he's no Freddie - but right now there are about four billion men who aren't Freddie! If Brian and Roger don't want to hang up their instruments and do want to keep the music going for gig-goers who didn't get the chance to see Good Old Mr Balsara, Adam's as good as any!

Yes Oliver. Agree completely especially with your last sentence.
