Power Outage thread as its such a regular occurrence now

LIVE – Updated at 16:09

Firefighters are battling a huge blaze at an electrical substation in north-west London which has left some homes without power.

About 100 firefighters rushed to the scene near Aberdeen Place in St John’s Wood shortly before 5.30am on Tuesday.

Reports of power blackouts among local properties have started to emerge, although the scale of the impact on supplies is unclear.

Aberdeen Place is located not far from Regent’s Park, Lord’s Cricket Ground and Paddington Station.

Tuesday’s blaze comes just weeks after a massive fire erupted at an electricity substation in Hayes, west London, which forced Heathrow airport to shut for nearly a day.

Power outage closes some of the Tube

The power outage hit the Tube at around 2.30pm, with passengers turned away from Elizabeth line services since then.

Alison Hendry, 33, and Joseph Richardson, 37, were among them, having taken the Heathrow Express to Paddington after flying in from Glasgow earlier today.

Alison said: "It's a bit annoying they only told us when we got here.

"We walked all the way across the station, we have to go all the way back."

The pair hope to reach Walthamstow in time for a comedy show tonight.

Transport for London's website down
It seems the Transport for London's website is also dealing with intermittent issues.

When trying to access their page providing status updates on the affected lines, we were met with this message...

lack of proper maintenance i think

similar to earlier this year at heathrow

i don't know who the responsible power company is for maintenance work, but they need to do that every once in a while

and honestly, for scheduled maintenance work people receive a mail couple days before, which time they do this, and how long it might take to do that work, and they usually try to do it in as short amount of time as possible of course, otherwise freezers are off for too long

The fire that caused the Tube and building outtage was at a different sub station in SW London

Sure, all these sub stations are just spontaneously combusting, even the one that was on fire last week has just reignited....

Police in Devon have said there was third party involvement, I guess they didn't get the memo to stay stum

happens sometimes everywhere tbh

which is why proper maintenance is important, cables can fatigue easily over a longer amount of time

but anyway good news, our levels of solar and wind energy are great here, the energy prices in my nation haven't been as low as they are currently
