Is this a scam?

Okaaaay. I'm quite anxious about this. Scared of it being a scam.

I'll explain.

A lady is selling 2 Peter Kay tickets on Facebook. They are 60 quid each.

So I've chatted with her and arranged to pay her for them via bank transfer installments. But I'm unsure if it is genuine.

I asked for the bank account details and alarm bells are ringing because of the name on the account? I can't say what it is here but it's a character name from a film.

What should I do??

Bank transfer could well be dodgy, would be very hard to get money back if so..can you not use PayPal?

Vicky. 10-05-2025 07:58 PM

Also that she will accept installments sounds iffy

Almost certainly a scam it the account name doesn't match their FB name. FB is absolutely awash with ticket scammers

Alf 10-05-2025 07:58 PM

Give me her details, and I'll buy them instead.

That's my best advice.

The account name is a male name.

Anytime I worry about being scammed … its usually been a scam …

I type all the relevant info at hand into Google and see what it throws up .. occasionally some other people have had similar doubts and asked on X or Reddit and Google will link their conversations .

Alternatively ask one or two of the Ai engines

Could be her man’s account? But just ask her if it’s her account or her mans

Yeah don't do it, I've seen so many people get burned like that

She said it is her husbands account. Bur it's a different surname.

if you have the smallest doubt, don't do it. If you want tickets, get them from authorised sources

Hmm, could be a scam or she didn’t take his name. I’d get PayPal, if it’s a scam you’d get your money back easily

Kate! 10-05-2025 08:03 PM

It's the name on the account ringing the biggest alarm bells.

Glenn. 10-05-2025 08:05 PM

Doesn’t sound like a scam to me

Is it a strange movie name? Or is it a little believable? How much would the tickets go for ?

It blatantly does.

It's not believable. The tickets are double what she's asking for them.

Kate! 10-05-2025 08:16 PM

Shut up Glenn. You just want me to lose my money. It is extremely suspicious.

If you are wary I’d say leave them. You don’t want to lose money if it is a scam. Or maybe go through her friends list see if her husband is actually there

I do 99%. I'm just sad someone would do that and regretful cos it's a great deal. Just too good to be true.

AnnieK 10-05-2025 08:35 PM

Sounds like a if it's too good to be true it probably is scenario. Facebook is rife with them sadly

Alf 10-05-2025 08:37 PM

Where's the show at?

When is it?

I want to see this.
