Has anyone else moved over to universal credit yet?

I'm so much better off on it.
Getting a lot more than I used to get before.
But the bills have also doubled :fist:
Some people have been complaining that they're worse off. Thoughts?

No I work

Kate! 22-05-2025 06:53 PM

Vanessa works. It's for anyone.

I’ve used it in the past, when my income was unsteady.

Some people are saying they've had a lot of problems with it.

Like being overpaid. That's a bit of a nightmare.

…I don’t know, everyone will have their own personal experience of it so some but I’m glad that your own experience is good and positive, Vanessa....the negatives of anything are the ones that are the main focus of reporting etc so it’s lovely to hear someone say …yeah, this is pretty good, actually…/this works for me……

…booooooo the bills, though…they give so it can be taken, eh…

It definitely helps with the rent and bills.
Although you really need to tell them everything or they can stop it/sanction it.

I don’t mind it, however, it’s the getting paid once a month now I struggle with but other than that I like it. Though I forget to log into the site sometimes

…how are you at separating it out into weekly amounts and then keeping that budget…do you find that ok to do or not so much…?…

…yeah that’s the thing and I guess that it might sometimes/often be something that’s completely overlooked in telling them as well…?…I understand that…

It was hard at first but I seem to be adjusting to it now.

…ahhhhh, it is quite the big adjustment from managing finances/spending weekly to it being monthly …I think that it does help sometimes to mentally split it and still think of it as a weekly income and that only that one week’s money exists until the new week begins…I’m glad that you’re feeling it’s working much better now, though but weekly just worked for some, doesn’t it …and others plan better by the month…
