STRANGER THINGS Season 5 Trailer (2025)

Strictly Jake 01-06-2025 11:22 AM

Stayed up and watched TUDUM on Netflix last night. 1am til 3am, mainly for the stranger things segment, the three lads of the cast were very awkward and the trailer shows mostly what's already happened...so I was pretty annoyed...however we do have the dates. Still 6 months to go!

It's a weird one with Stranger Things... it's pretty much the only show left (now ending) from the era when Netflix were making really great/narrative driven shows.

They're not really commissioning shows like this any more (too expensive).

Feels like the end of an era with Stranger Things finishing up.

It's also been quite a while since we had a new "cultural phenomenon" (Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Walking Dead, going further back things like Lost...) will there ever be another ... :worry:

TBF I quite enjoy Netflix' reality trash shows. But they're not really the same sort of television :joker:.

Only Murders In the Building can kinda be added to that list, of ''cultural phenomenons'' in terms of a good mix of older and younger generations whom also play alongside each other very impressively, and a series which manages to attract A-Lister names to its cast each season so far, even a non-actor like Sting put in a good acting performance and not just a ''cameo''
Spoiler:

upcoming season has ''Bridget Jones'' ICON Renee Zellweger, as well as Christoph Waltz, best known as the more recent Blofeld actor, as well as ''Hans Landa'' opposite to Brad Pitt in Inglorious Bastards

+
Spoiler:

The amount of media attention this series gets, also off set, now with Meryl Streep & Martin Short's romance both in the series and in real life

I’d put Severance up there as the new one.

I think what the problem is, is that not many shows take the time to develop characters over a number of seasons. Things like GoT and Stranger Things, you actually see the characters growing older in front of your eyes. Breaking bad and better call saul also did brilliant character development. Compare the character development in Dexter to the main character in You and the difference is blatantly obvious

Need to catch up on the series but I’m excited. Sad it’s the end though

I agree in terms of potential and the discussion it generates but not sadly in terms of cultural relevance - most people hadn't heard of it, things like "Stranger Things", "Game of Thrones", "Lost" in the mid-00's were "household names". Breaking Bad is another one, I knew I was forgetting one BOTS! And Dexter, to an extent.

Severance is for one a little too nice plot wise but also, is only on a slightly-obscure platform so it's not "water cooler talk" territory.

…Schitt’s Creek has to be up there in terms of cultural phenomenon also, I’m not even going to consider that it wouldn’t be…and what about Squid Games…?…

I think the way series are these days, it's just a different ball game. There is so much content available now that i have a healthy list of shows i consider bangers, but then, i may only be in a group of 1000 people world wide that think the same as me

Things like foundation and slow horses, also on apple, i consider bangers. From and dark i consider bangers.

However none can come close to a show i don't think has been mentioned yet .... friends

I’m a casual viewer .. I actually thought it ended years ago with that dramatic ending with Metallica playing in the background

I think that AppleTV has those kinds of Shows now.

Silo
Severance
Foundation (going by what the fans say)
And Dark Matter (again going by what the fans say)

Netflix have just gone downhill.

This looks so good! I'm not ready for it to end though. Its one od my favourite shows of all time

Jordan. 16-07-2025 11:22 PM

The best WOKE netflix show. How exciting! :flutter:

Nicky91 17-07-2025 07:37 AM

can't say i'm more excited for this, than i am for Alien: Earth, or S5 Only Murders in the Building

oh yeah also Percy Jackson & Olympians S2 coming in December :amazed: and from that one's same production team, also a new power rangers series dropping as a disney+ original

----------
anyway

it is good that most of the cast of Stranger Things venture into other projects, Sadie in that musical drama O'Dessa recently and she is rumoured to be in the new Spider-Man film: Brand New Day, while David Harbour (Hopper) also has landed himself a major role for his character in the MCU since Black Widow basically, also in Thunderbolts, and likely will also be in Avengers: Doomsday

Benjamin 17-07-2025 07:45 AM

Very excited for the final. As if it’s been 9 years since it all started!

Niamh. 17-07-2025 07:49 AM

Can't wait
