Notting Hill Carnival 2025 Sunday Aug 24th, & the 25th.
[The future of the Notting Hill Carnival
could be in doubt without "urgent funding" from the government, its organisers said in a letter leaked to the BBC. Carnival chair Ian Comfort has written to Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy to request the funding, which he said was "essential to safeguarding the future and public safety of this iconic event". It follows a review of the festival, which attracts about two million people over the August Bank Holiday weekend, that identified "critical public safety concerns" that needed additional funding to address, the letter said. The Met Police's Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist previously raised concerns of a "mass casualty event" due to crowd density.] On Good Safety Grounds Cancel the Bugger, I say. get this violent drug fest in the bin
|
The Government don't like to fund stuff.
They're like Bin men and Hollywood writers, they hate to do their job. |
it's not the job of the government to fund drug addled stabbing frenzies
|
Why not cancel it and fund something for families? Something where people don't take drugs, stab each other, sh1t and/or shag in other people's front gardens. And honestly, the next time I see an on-duty copper dancing at a festival I'm going to hurt myself....
|
LOL every thread I go into in here it's the same people complaining about something
|
Block off the streets, make it an all ticket affair and it would probably fund itself.

Never get approval for that |

Not really sure what your point is, apart from taking the opportunity to have a bit of a passive aggressive dig. |
How dare people complain about violence, anti-social behavior and death
:umm2: |

If you don't like Notting Hill carnival, don't go. Calling for it to be cancelled because you don't like it is ridiculous considering you're in other threads saying that being offended and disagreeing with others' opinion is all part of life. |
The Notting Hill Carnival deserves to die
This late summer event is now an annual hotbed of violence, debauchery and disruption https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GtyzzrMX...jpg&name=small At the end of last summer’s Notting Hill Carnival, Metropolitan Police revealed that eight people were stabbed during the “celebrations” and a total of 334 arrests were made – most for possession of an offensive weapon and drug- related offences. One of those stabbed was 32-year-old mother Cher Maximen, who later died after being attacked with a zombie knife by 20-year-old Shakeil Thibou in front of her three-year-old daughter on the Carnival’s so-called “Family Day”. Those who wish to protect it in its current form and trivialise the levels of violence at the event are signing its death warrant. If they want it to survive, they must accept that it needs to completely change course. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/202...serves-to-die/ |

The carnival is violent, dangerous and drug-fuelled. That's not an opinion, it's a fact. If it was a predominantly white festival and as violent and dangerous, I'd be just as against it. |

The carnival hasn't been a safe place to be for the last 30 years, i'm really not surprised that it's now seen as past its sell by date. We have enough problems in the world without creating new ones in the name of "fun"

The London Mayor has No Spare Money
They need an extra £2million to ensure safety So it is now down to the Government to fund that? |

Make it a paid, ticketed event?

They will not. |

Because they mentally start breaking down, and lose perspective on reality. |
