Of course it shouldsay "unregistered handguns". Our sports shooters have to train abroad if they can afford to. Sports people can't own a gun yet they seem to be freely available to the bad guys. I have a shotgun in my home, locked up, but it's here. Every farm around about me also have shotguns... But for how long? How long before someone says we have to hand them all over? I had a delivery from Amazon yesterday and the guy had to ID me because the package contained a "bladed article". Was it a knife? A Samurai sword? No, it was a pack of stanley knife blades. This country... We're treated like we all have some kind of special need.

I had added "illegal" to the title

That was me being sarcastic, arista. Of course there are no legal handguns in the country outside the police and armed services, they're all illigal.

Unfortunately shot guns come with risks

My friends son killed himself with his dad’s shotgun
The young game keeper was cleaning his gun and accidentally killed his girlfriend so he shot himself
Raoul mote used a shot gun
And countless other incidents

If the kid who killed himself hadn't had access to a gun he'd have found another way.

He was a game keeper and was cleaning a loaded gun? And while he was cleaning this loaded gun it was pointed at his girlfriend? He sounds too stupid ever to have a license.

Raoul Moat had an illegal sawn-off shotgun.

Thousands of people die in cars every year but no one's banning them

Licenced, frequently checked firearms are not the problem.

Having shot someone with a legally owned shotgun there will always be problems

People break into places and steal shot guns that’s why they become illegal

Also the twat that was shooting in the field the last week
Went there afterwards to find half dead wounded birds that he couldn’t even be bothered to put out of there suffering

Shotguns have to be stored unloaded and separately from cartridges, in a secure lock box or gun cabinet. My local gun shop is like Fort Knox, good luck breaking in there. If someone steals a shotgun it's because it was not stored correctly and the owner is partly responsible. As for shooting birds and leaving them suffering, that person should never, ever be near a gun. A responsible gun owner would never... Personally, I shoot clays, never, ever animals.

With all do respect you can’t tell me anything about shotgun ownership that I don’t already know

A locked gun cabinet doesn’t stop people the same way a locked door to a house doesn’t stop someone from getting in
