One Contestant has been Edited out, of the BBC Master Chef series

She asked the BBC not to show it.

So the BBC/Banijay said that's OK
we will Edit you out of the series.

In today's papers

[Sarah Shafi, from Leeds, said she had
made it clear to the show’s producers that
airing it would send the wrong message
about the treatment of women and the lack
of challenge to powerful
men behaving inappropriately.

The presenters feature almost
throughout the series,
which was filmed at the end of last year.
Both have since been dropped
from the programme.

Shafi said she initially rejected an offer
by MasterChef’s producers Banijay to edit her out
of her episode.
The 57-year-old agreed to be removed
once the BBC announced they had decided
to broadcast the series from 6 August.

“I didn’t say edit me out,” she said.
“I said: ‘Axe the show, don’t air the show.
I’m asking you not to air the show.’
Prominent figures have been abusing
their power.
What message does that send
out to women?]

I heard a woman on LBC saying she did Master Chef two years ago and she thought both Gregg Wallace and the other bloke are very nice men.

She didn't have a bad word to say about either men, and Gregg in particular was very nice and didn't talk dirty to her.

So who do you believe. This woman or the Gregg haters,

She obviously didn't go very far in the show or it would be impossible to edit her out

I love the show. Not really bothered who presents it to be honest.

If she was first out, could they just drop that episode? And edit all of the intro stuff into episode 2?

Ive not seen Masterchef, so don't know if the format of the show would "allow" that.

Editing out reality from a reality show. Sounds like a lot of things these days.

Yes, but one can't use digital tools on the way we process some things. Culture has adapted itself around the idea that everything can just be easily photoshopped when it's too inconvenient.

They're not infallible, they can only do so much.

It's a little off topic, so the point is easily missed, but I am criticizing society. We very rarely get anything whole truth these days. Even our food faces genetic manipulation.

On topic: What is the harm in showing things as they are?

arista 31-07-2025 11:57 PM

[Digital tools will be used in the production process]

Long live the dystopian society instead.
