Worst hotel-experience you’ve had?

Mine was in Croydon, staying down for a wedding (summer-’09). Foul smell here, there and everywhere and allegedly rats. Thank God I had no cause to eat any of their food. Disgusting.

The irony is the wedding itself took place in a gorgeous 4/5-star hotel in a part of Surrey that’s actually nice, very aristocratic to boot (violins playing here, there and everywhere, almost to the point of pomposity).

I've been incredibly lucky tbh.

The Hotels that I've been at have been really good imo.

I remember being away with my parents and we opened the hotel room and a massive dog ran out. Hotel owner thought it was very amusing but the room also stank, paint peeling everywhere and lots of stains

I also got a hotel with work quite recently and it was the only one in London within our budget. My room was in a basement, the door was all battered and chipped and there was constant noise throughout the night. It included a complimentary breakfast which was a stack of cold toast and a big vat of boiled eggs. It was very grim but I got what I paid for I guess

I think my other worst experience wasn't an awful place but it was a night in the States a few years ago where we had a stunning air bnb cabin in the mountains. Unfortunately we got pissed in the local town, my brother lost his jacket which had both our car key and the cabin key. Had to instead check into a very budget motel where we were four to a room and get our hire car towed the next morning and get a replacement at a fairly substantial cost and miss our one night in the amazing airbnb :skull:

I’ve been quite lucky with hotels. Other half on the other hand stayed at one in Folkestone and he said his auntie boiled the kettle in her room and this awful smell suddenly appeared. Someone had vomited in the kettle. They took it down to reception and went out for the evening. When they got back a few hours later the kettle was still on the desk at reception.

It was the Grand Burstin of any of you are ever looking where not to stay in Folkestone. Not that you would. Place is a dive

In Rome. Hotel was actually really nice. But they cancelled my reservation as soon as I said I was paying by card.
