What does September mean to you?
I think September signals big changes just the same way new years brings in changes. Id say September maybe more so? From being young we have it instilled in us the start of a new school year, new teacher, new classrooms, new pencil case, new uniform, new seating plans, etc, I always found all that quite exciting but I imagine I was nervous too. My kids all seem nervous to be going back today but I guess excited too. My oldest starts year 6 today, thats a scary thought for me!
But yeah as an adult do you still feel September brings in a new year sort of feel for you? |
…that first school day back is so nervous, isn’t it…but then when you’re actually there and in that ‘old familiar’ and see friends that you haven’t seen through the holidays, for many those nerves become excitement…and it’s a great term in discovering your new school year and heading towards Christmas…

School, tropical storms aka "almost hurricanes" (rainy season)

it's the month after august

Me and September have never really been the best of friends lol.
Especially in recent years. At least the weather is cooler though. |

Season of calm

Love September, Autumn is my fave time. Love autumn clothes, colours etc etc
|
I find September a month that brings up a lot of childhood nostalgia.
|
September means new pencil cases, doing the autumn jobs in the garden, the smell of fermenting apples that have fallen off the apple trees. Nights drawing in, Better stuff on the telly, Strictly, Last Night of the Proms. Having my summer clothes and my winter clothes on the go at the same time, cuddly jumpers when I walk the dog in the evening, the smell of bonfires, making decorations for Halloween already. I love Autumn, it's definitely my favourite time of the year. So much to look forward to, Halloween, Bonfire Night, planting Spring bulbs, Hanukkah and Christmas, New Year... then the build up to Spring.

I agree autumn is the best I love it!

My birthday but also the end of summer, back to traffic getting to and from work
|
My Birthday is also in September, the smell of Autumn is the best smell, though where i live (Kent) September, in recent years, still feels like summer, not sure if it was last year, or the year before but we had temperatures in the 30's for the first week or so of September. Though, it certainly doesn't feel summery down here today :joker:

My birthday month, love that early morning nip in the air, leaves turning but its still warm...love it
|
It means being one step closer to pumpkin-season (officially). The liminality between summer and autumn. A time to start getting excited over Christmas again.
|
September is when I can start to smell Autumn which is my favourite time of year. It’s a time to enjoy blue skies and sunshine without it being too hot.
….its the month we married too  |

Wake me when September ends.
It brings warmth and smiles because for a long time it meant start of school, college and Uni and though I may have complained back then-it was better than today. Plus it means I can hide my rolls under layers. |
