flash floods
hi just wondering wether any of you was affected by the floods yesterday , or any other other time . we had some flooding, my hubby had to wade through waist high water to get home . my home was unaffected luckly .
Only thing affected for me was my local town was flooded so I couldn't go to my usual hairdressers. I live amongst giant hills, I can't see us ever getting flooded.
worst weather we have ever had was a tornado, that ripped off doors, shop signs, and a cricket pavillion roof (this was in Barnoldswick Lancshire/Yorkshire)
I live on like a hill estate so it will never flood hear :spin:

I have been watching it on the News today and it is a terrible situation to witness.
But, to be living there and have your whole house and all your worldly possessions ruined in such a way, is terrible:sad: I really feel for them and I am certainly glad that I don't live in an area which is prone to flooding like that. This global warming must have something to blame for these freak rain-storms, whereby so much rain falls from the sky in such a short space of time, that things like this happen & in the latter July too:rolleyes: It's almost unreal..... nodisharmony  |
i totally agree with you !!! just hope insurance pays out for the ones who were insured and the ones who wernt i just dont no what they are going to do .

The Insurance companies will put up the premium for future insurance, so that means, that after this disaster, many won't be able to afford to pay for their next insurance premium and next year, it could happen again. There is so much to be lost with these kind of things. nodisharmony  |
i feel sorry for all those who have been affected by it.
yes thats if there insurance gets renewd next year , must be an awful situation to be put in if you have lost everything my heart goes out to them
thames about to burst in oxford . we should be ok hopfully
Not that bad here, some deep water in places and sometimes the school is affected but my house is fine. i feel bad for all those people who are victims of this, who would expect this to happen in July?
Its not bad here, it rains then its gone a few hours later but the horses field near my house, the water takes a few days to go, and yeah i feel sorry for all the people and animals who have been victims in this, and yeah who expects flash floods in July when there's supposed to be sunny weather and people enjoying being outside not stuck in there damaged homes.
im very lucky too as I live in a town centre but ive been watching about it on the news and it does look very bad so I would like to say im thinking on you people who are suffering bad and hope it calms down too.
No, far too hilly.
Really hot where I live at the moment. The rain must have stopped for us.
Live about a 5 minute walk away from the River Severn. The place that's been on the news alot, Tewksbury is about a 30 minute drive away from my house.
have you been flooded:shocked: , i no we got the next 48 hours to watch , reading is peaking tonight about midnight .i live in west oxfordshire. nr witney.
I doubt I would ever be flooded on the high ground I luckily live on.
I just feel so terrible for all those that are affected by the terrible recent floods, first we had the awful floods in Hull a few weeks ago and now this current nightmare further south. I wonder how much aid is being provided. I heard on the news today that the first lives have been claimed, premature twins babies both died after being air lifted to hospital, how sad indeed. |
My house hasn't been flooded because the area of the town that I live in is on a hill and the river is quite a bit lower down than the town.
so glad you have not been flooded , yes its so sad about the twins she gave birth in the house born to early all 3 airlifted to hospial but it was to late for the twins . imagine what it must be like to loose them heart breaking .
That story about the twins made me sad... Poor little things, I feel bad for the mother and family.
It was nice here earlier when I was in town, but it's raining now. Don't know whether it's the start of any bad weather or just a shower, the forecast is supposed to be bad for tomorrow so I probably won't go anywhere if the weather's bad.
2 more die in floods using petrol pump to pump out water in rugby club , we have also had panick buying here now lol
