Psychology show...
The woman on now is rubbish. The american guy they have is the best but still, they are in a highly artificial environment. It's hard applying psychological principles to that.
I'm not sure what the woman they have on at the start is taking :puzzled: |
On the couch isn't on S4C untill 10:00pm.
|
What you on about Judi James is legendary! :puzzled:

Maybe its just me but I feel that Judi James is slightly biased towards her fave housemates

Personally I don't like the show much because it hardly endears to beyond-basic Psychological ideas. But then again I can understand fully why they wouldn't want to go too in-depth because they wouldn't have a large target audience. |
Judi James is the Best! :thumbs2:

I love how phychologists are able to miracalously conjour these conclusions out of hand gestures in the diary room.

The american guy is weird and has an annoying voice. I also get the impression he freaks Davina out. Judi is legendary.

Like when she said she thought that Ziggy was a volcano who exploded along time ago. She was clearly having a dig regarding his past 'fame'. It's out of order from people who are supposed to give their professional opinion. She also called Liam nice but dull which has nothing to do with anything but her opinion of him as a hm. Anything she says about Brian is wildly positive. |
First thing they try to teach you in psychology is that people can be generalised, that there are set behaviours and certain behaviours that always mean a certain thing. I don’t think it’s that simple, even if they do attempt to cut out the enormous bias of the environment they are in.

I agree Verloren, they don't mention the constant camera focus, and therefore demand characteristics but they're either: a) Assuming it's all subconscious and therefore artificial doesn't come into it (I don't even think they're professional enough to consider this option though). b) Their target is audience will accept every word they say  I'm going with B. Don't get me wrong, sometimes they touch on some good points but largely it's just one of those whacko things. I wanna see real analysis (approaches included), with reference to confounding variables - but alas, that'll reduce viewers by at least half  |
Part 2 Is Better Than Part 1

all this On the couch psycho babble is too waffly! |
I think the show is rubbish- that's why I'm on here 'till tha main show starts. It's a load of cra p.
Just a time filler, none of it's true x |

There are subconscious actions that may be similar in both events but there are so many things wrong with using that. How good someone is in bed is highly subjective for example! Also we act differently when with someone else. There is a whole host of biases in trying to simplify human behaviour down to the level of an ape. |

Not everything is opinion. It could be a fact that the american guy is better. There is such a thing as a bad psychologist.

American is better x
