Why BB3 was a total failure

From a History of the 21st Century, First published back in 2132. (Sent back by a freak rift in the space time continuum)

Quote:

The first two British Big Brothers had unexpected events which put a spin on them, and thus gained media and public attention.

The first one was characterised by an individual called Nicholas Bateman, known at the time as Nasty Nick who was found to be cheating. After he was ejected half way through it was said people lost interest. (Click on link for holographic recording).

The second British Big Brother was characterised by a romance between two of the contestants, a Helen Adams and a Paul Clarke. Interest continued to be expressed in this relationship after the second Big Brother finished .

When it came to the third series, it was doomed before it started, as it had been done before. A cheat would have been labled another Nasty Nick and a romance would have thrown up the Yawn factor of "Been there done that"

When it came to BB3 the trajedy was
Unfortnately the transmission terminated here

So after the Hype after BB1 & 2 how could BB3 top them

Of course the obvious reason for the faliure of BB3, was that none of us were in it. :bawling:

It's a good point actually, Sticks - what will catch the nation's imagination this series?

The best thing I can think of would be a long-running feud between two of the hms - oinly problems is the others would probably nominate them as they would be getting on their nerves!

What else then? Someone who started out nice and turns nasty? Someone who escapes out of the house? It's hard to think of anything ... ... But I'm sure we'll all be glued to the screens again

Whatever it is, it has to be something that builds gradually over time. It took a while for us to realise the nastiness of Nick, then we got to watch him being nasty for a bit and getting more and more bold until he was uncovered. We had time for The Sun to do some serious investigative journalism to find out just how much of a git he'd been in his life prior to BB, and to do a campaign.

A feud that builds slowly could do it if they don't annoy too many of the others. There may need to be a 2-faced element to it, such as behaving in front of the others. 2 people competing for the affections of a lucky contestant might be fun. We had that a bit with Naz and Bubble both wanting to be Brian's best friend, but it could apply equally to romantic liasons.

What might be fun if an in the closet to the others gay person was being hunted down by a keen person unable to get the hint. We like the idea of being in on something that the others aren't. With Nick it was obvious, and with P&H we all got to see the hand-holding, talks of stuff and longing looks hidden to their housemates. :spin2:

I quite like the idea of a couple of people ganging up to sabotage all the tasks, without the rest of the group realising.

If there were two of them it might not be so obvious to the rest of the group that they were doing it, and somehow they could make it seem like natural mistakes that looked like incompetence.

ive got a strong feeling that the bb powers that be, will pick some people that they think will be up for more than holding hands and playing snakes and ladders in the den.i hope im wrong though.

I think Channel 5 did that and it was called The Mole.

Inspired by a certain BB1 contestant.

I gave it a wide berth.

More from A History of the 21st Century there is a reference to a much publicised split between a Big Brother couple..

Hang on there is some archived news cuttings commming through. :bawling:

I have been digging around in the basement archives and found this thread, the above quote seems very precient.

Is there something that Kaphc should be telling us

In the History of the 21st Century synopsis of BB they failed to mention for BB2 the impact made by the hilarious housemate Brian (the ultimate winner)and the fact that every BB afterwards was struggling to match this level of humour.

4.2 m votes were cast on the strength of Brians personality.

Well said dizzy bint...from one huge Brian fan to.... would I be presumptious in saying...another? :xyxwave:

Hi Honey !! :xyxwave:

Yes another huge Brian fan.

I just wanted to put the record straight, I didn't want the aforementioned publication to be biased in any way

It's easy to forget how much Brian made us laugh last year with his incredible verbal and physical humour.
