relationship advice needed

I've been seeing a girl at my college for 8 or 9 months now and we're very much smitten and I think we're ready to move on together to the next stage (sex), but I don't know how best to go about asking her if she wants to or suggest it, as I'm used to one night stands and week long relationships. Should I let her make the first move towards it or no? Advice appreciated - Freddy.

But I think I love her and don't want her to dump me for being wrong.

Jackie 24-08-2007 06:38 PM

If she likes you alot she wont dump you if she does dump you than you know that shes not that intrested in you after all.

Freddy111 24-08-2007 06:40 PM

Yeah but she maybe a girl that likes to wait and think that I've been with her just to get to this stage with her (which I haven't been).

What shall I say to ask her? "do you want to" or just make the situation call for it?

MarkWaldorf 24-08-2007 06:44 PM

Sex is natural, there's nothing wrong for asking or even suggesting it. And you're both old enough (seeing as you're in college). She could be thinking exactly the same thing.

Billy 24-08-2007 06:46 PM

Just say something like, you think your ready and ask if she is. If she says no, then just carry on as normal, if she says yes then bobsyeruncle

I'd like to, but I'm willing to respect her wishes if she's not ready.

Ummm. I'm not sure, maybe ask how she feels about the relationship. Does she think it's something serious? Can she completely trust you? Then I'm guessing it would sort unfold if you deeper the conversation.

Jackie 24-08-2007 07:16 PM

Well your a decent person than because most man would cheat on their partner if they said that!

I think she does, I think she loves me the same as I love her. Never rowed, or even had a disagreement. Always close.

Just ask her, she's probably thinking the same. You both seem to love each other, so why not take the next step? But if she's not interested my only advise is to not nag her about it, and respect her decision. Good luck!

(And yea, us welsh don't like the sheep comments)

I'll try and ask her.

Okay if I was her I would make sure you have a long chat to her about it. If you try to make a move on her she might pull away and then you'll be left feeling 'what have I done wrong' when she probably wasn't ready.

I have been in relationships where I have been pressured and it isn't a nice thing. If you talk to her and discuss it maturely she will appreciate it.

Hope this helps.

If it’s been 8 or 9 months and you’re both quite open people generally (it seems as if you are), then the subject should come up naturally. Also, you’re both quite mature seeing as the two of you are in college. I’d probably suggest making sure you’ve got protection with you, and then sometime in the near future when you’re together you may well go onto the next step if you feel ready without anyone having to ask anything in advance. If that’s what happens, then that way you’re prepared and can move your relationship forward quite smoothly.

If you're worried about how to go about asking her just wait until you're spending time with her and tell her what you think of her, what you like about her, why you like spending time with her, what makes you smile about her then say something like "I'm willing to wait until you're ready, but I want to take this further" or something? And like Ash said, make sure you have protection.

well done for lasting 8/9 months without sex
