The Most Unwelcoming Forum I\'ve Ever Visited

I have to say I've been on many unfriendly forums in my time, but have usually recieved some sort of welcome by at least one forum member. I asked somebody for a banner yesterday and all I got was "I don't make banners for anyone who hasn't 100+ posts."

I'll probably recieve a torrent of insults for this (and possibly a ban), but I think it's rude not to at least say "Welcome to the forum."

Am I alone in my opinion?

CassetteFinger 27-08-2007 04:32 PM

Hello and welcome to tibb its very fun here really you can get some fannys on here but most people are nice im nice i think anyway welcome :D

MarkWaldorf 27-08-2007 04:35 PM

Yes, there some fannys^ on here, Rice Square. :pat: Anyway

Don't worry, there are other people who make banners.

Chrizzle 27-08-2007 04:35 PM

If this is the person Im thinking about, I recently made a thread about it aswell.

This is EXACTLY what im talking about.
See 'Targeting of certain members'

Don't worry not all of us are nasty bullies:xyxwave:

TopzTom 27-08-2007 04:35 PM

Thanks for that, Rice_Square.

I just thought I'd express my opinions (like I usually do) and tell everyone how I felt.

Jackie 27-08-2007 04:36 PM

Hello and welcome to this friendly forum how may we help you?

the_stillness 27-08-2007 04:36 PM

Hello TopzTom, glad to know you and welcome. I am new here to and I haven't got around to sorting a banner either yet. I am aware that there are a few banner makers here. I am sure you just picked the unfriendly banner maker. Just try another one and I am sure the sign on the door will say [Welcome] instead of [Buzz off]

TopzTom 27-08-2007 04:36 PM

You, too, MarkChap?!, Chrizzle, jackie46 and the_stillness.

KKBL 27-08-2007 04:41 PM

Hey TopzTom welcome to the forum. I know how you feel but everyone was new at one stage. There are a few un-friednly people on this forum, but there are loads of helpful, friendly and funny ones to too. I agree it's a bit of a weird rule about the banners. Welcome.

MarkWaldorf 27-08-2007 04:45 PM

^I think you missed the point of the thread. LCpl. LOL

Ermmm I think i was Matt that refused him a banner...

TopzTom 27-08-2007 04:48 PM

Thanks to everyone who's been so lovely and welcoming. I was thinking of not coming back, but you've made me feel much better. Thanks and hello. :wavey:

Sam 27-08-2007 04:49 PM

I think the person who refused to make your banner clearly thinks he is "too good" to be making banners for new people. which I think is unfair.

But...

I think he put that rule up as he gets a lot of requests and doesn't like to make banners for people who he thinks may not stay for long on the forum. You get a lot of members on this forum who stay for about a week then leave, I think he just doesn't want to make loads of banners for them people.

Welcome to the forum to anyway!

Wiglet 27-08-2007 04:50 PM

TopzTom, I joined this form a couple of months ago and I've always felt welcomed and I welcome you too.

It is the members who make a forum. The good ones who do not want to cause conflict are the ones I tend to post around and I ignore the ones who are there to cause hassle. Simple rules and they work as there are mostly good people here.

No problem TopzTom. I think that banner maker Matt, just had to be a little cautious before spending time making a new banner. Probably the 100 post plus idea is a sensible one, rather than an unfriendly one. I am sure he didn't mean to offend

CassetteFinger 27-08-2007 04:52 PM

I also make banners but i dont own a shop but i own photoshop :D

Sam 27-08-2007 04:55 PM

Yeah, so I think you shouldn't take it personally. I am hosting TiBB Does The Apprentice, and I didn't want anyone in the show under 500+ posts to be in it. The reason being , members pass and go, and most only stay on for the duration of Big Brother. I didn't want people signing up who might leave.

A lot of hard work goes into banner making and he is very busy with requests, so dont worry!

~Kizwiz~ 27-08-2007 04:56 PM

I am so sorry you havent had a good experience on TiBB.... we are nice really

I would be glad to make you a banner if you would like one.

Just u2u me if you want and we can have a chat about the type of one you want

oh... and welcome to TiBB xxxx

Sophii3x 27-08-2007 05:02 PM

Aww, the 100 post rule is unfair.. singles out newer members. Just ignore it, there's plenty of other members who would be willing to make you a banner.

And welcome

Captain.Remy 27-08-2007 05:10 PM

Well I didn't notic you were here, some members are quite rude but don't mind ! Then welcome to TIBB and join the fun !

SairBabi92 27-08-2007 05:12 PM

Hello and welcome to the forum TopzTom!

Which is exactly the reason I'm not taking requests from users with less that 100 posts. As I said in the thread when I added the new rule:

As the_stillness said, it was intended as a sensible rule, rather than an unfriendly one.

I am profoundly sorry for any offence I have caused.
