Opera legend Pavarotti dies at 71

From BBC News Online

Quote:

Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti has died, his manager has announced.

The singer, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year, died at his home in the northern city of Modena, at the age of 71.

He had been admitted to hospital in Modena on 8 August with a fever. He was released two weeks later following diagnostic tests.

Pavarotti had cancer surgery in July 2006 in New York, and had not made any public appearances since then.

I was brought up on Opera, my father being a semi pro tenor. I always loved Nessum Dorma (although my Dad's version was of course my favourite)

I actually prefer these, have a look:
Il Pagliacci

and the sublime: E lucevan le estelle

Resto nel maestro di pace

Bravo

I love that pavarotti song that they played for the football, nussun dorma i think? I have a copy of that and it really makes me feel good inside. I saw on x-factor tonight that woman singing that nessun dorma song and I loved it. wow, she was really special and simon, louie, sharon and Danni really were taken for a surprise, she will go far I think
