Money does buy happiness. Most people who are skint lead unhappy lives and end up living in some dirty council flat with £3 a week.

I think the saying tries to encourage good-natured behaviour more than anything. As in, appreciate what you've got and be grateful for the people close to you, be cheerful and smiley amongst them and all that. In that predicament, money shouldn't come into it or be thought about. It seems as if it's a frame of mind that people have less and less these days though!

so would I,I mean its the most rediculous saying ever.
Say I found out tomorrow I had cancer or some other life threatening disease (god forbid),of course Id be devastated, distraught, terrified but I would be HAPPIER if I had money knowing that my fmaily would be ok when id gone and that Id be able to have loads of fun before I passed away.
Or on a slightly less serious note, say you were dumped by your long term partner, ten minutes later you find out you have won 36 million on the lottery. Some how I wouldnt be quite as upset anymore...maybe its me,maybe Im just very materialistic but I think that money really can buy you happiness

"Money can not buy happiness, but you can sure be miserable in comfort"

"Money can not buy friends, it merely rents them"

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." 1 Timothy 6:10

Apparently it's from Italian, then as my mother was born in Roma, she always said to me it was from there.

The quote about the money is ridiculous, of course there are some cases but I'm personally to have money, my parents worked hard in order to get enough to pay our studies, the clothes and whatever we want.
It can bring you misunfortunes but at the beginning you are really, really happy.

I think that we each create our own happiness in life.

I can honestly say that having financial security does not gaurantee you happiness. I have lived on very little money at the start of my marriage and was just as happy then as now when I am secure and have a very well paid job along with my husbands income from his own business! I still moan about the price of things because I appreciate how difficult it can be to live on very little money.

Umberella's etc aren't sayings, but superstitions with a past history...
In my opinion they all mean nothing, but to "believers" they do.

It's just like god, you either believe or you don't..or you could be undecided.
So it's not so much a stupid saying or phrase, but something you agree with or not.

Anyhow
"TALK TO THE HAND CAUSE THE FACE AINT LISTENING"

1. Hands don't listen
2. Faces don't listen either
3. I don't tend to talk to people's body parts, I talk to the person.

I could quote endless other phrases and sayings that stem from America, all helping to prove that the general young population of that country are on a majority...retarded.
