Congratulations Gordon and Sarah Brown
'Happiest Family in Britain' - Chancellor
GORDON Brown said he and his wife Sarah were now part of the happiest family in Britain as he revealed that they would name their son John. The beaming Chancellor said the boy would be named after his paternal grandfather as he emerged from the maternity unit at Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary (ERI) this morning. Sarah Brown gave birth to the 8lb 1oz infant by caesarean section yesterday morning, less than two years after the death of their first child, Jennifer, at the old Royal Infirmary in the city. Mr Brown said he expected his wife and child to leave the Simpsons Centre for Reproductive Health at the new hospital in the south of the city on Tuesday. Mr Brown, who had a celebratory glass of Champagne at his home in Fife last night, said John - who will later be given a middle name - was "incredibly fit and strong'', while Sarah was doing "extremely well''. "With the baby doing well and Sarah doing well we think we must be the happiest family in Britain today,'' Mr Brown said. The Chancellor paid tribute to the "extraordinary care'' provided by staff at the ERI and also at the Forth Park hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife. He told reporters: "It really is a wonderful morning and it's been an amazing 24 hours for Sarah, myself and for the baby.'' Mr Brown revealed he would be taking paternity leave, adding: "I'm a father and that's what matters most. Nothing else matters more than that, nothing.'' __________________________________________________ _ Considering the incredible heartbreak this couple have had to endure, I think it's wonderful that they tried for another baby and they've now been rewarded with a beautiful bouncing baby boy! http://www.platuglen.dk/Barn1/babyboy2.gif |

. . . . . and John Brown was also the name of Queen Victoria's faithful companion following the death of Prince Albert, as portrayed by Billy Connolly in the film 'Mrs Brown'. If you haven't seen this yet - you should! |
