Benjamin Gray, from Beano publisher DC Thomson, said: “The storylines are very much influenced by what is going on in the UK now.

“Children grow up in a world of reality TV, downloads and iPods. We have to reflect this, but the unique Dennis charm will still be there.”

The new series is expected to be on screens by autumn 2009.

LOL. Don't get me wrong, I love cartoons... But Dennis the Menace... Ugh. I used to hate turning on the TV and have him running riot with that flea bag dog xD

I mean, do they really need to make some childish little bit of fun into this portrait of the real world?!

and I guess the Army dude will be all hippie like now
